Bit pricey.

Very almost £90 for a non-ref cooler considering 290's can be had for as low as £300.

Also I saw them on the website before this post was made and the 290 was originally up fo £379.99 so the price has gone up by £10 :p

Same price as a 290 + waterblock makes it, not particularly appealing. Unfortunately so many third party cards go, +£30 for the cooler, +£50 for a pointless overclock achievable in the CCC on every single card made with no voltage change.

Bit hard to take that £50 increase for 4 seconds of effort in CCC, which is why I never by OC cards. Hopefully for those that want them, they'll do a non OC version or at least the arrival of more stock and more products from their competitors will make them drop that extra cost.

true dat setter, I have a WF3 7950 on the lower slot of my current rig and it stays below 65 at all times. As for my IceQBoost above it reaches 10 degrees higher.

I think we all know that that (those that shop around.) So if the maths are correct we should be able to pick up the 290's for about £340 - £350 soon :)

Sometimes OCUK have the best deals sometimes they don't, but for one thing they seem to get the latest tech in before everyone else.

Coolers are great, though theyre not the best for multi gpu setups.

Actually this is a 2 slot cooler surprisingly enough. When the direct cu/windforce and the like arrived a few years ago they were almost all 3 slot solutions but they are all making an effort to jam them into 2 slot solutions.

This is the problem and why they take time, they are usually reworked to fit around the components on the pcb to use every spare mm so they can fit it in 2 slots. Your prolimatech's and the like tend to be 3 slot(without fans often) to give the clearance between pcb/heatsink so they can fit on many more cards.

In terms of heat "dumped" in the case being an issue. it's not either. Stock cards, 95C, one windforce card, lets call it 55C, 2 in xfire, the lower card may not increase, the top card may be 10C hotter, that is still 65C and WAY below a stock card.

The stock cards don't run the same heat in xfire, the cards radiate a LOT of heat all around the card anyway and both vent inside the case, the majority is pushed out but quite a lot of heat is dumped inside the case from slots at pci bracket end of the shroud. My top card runs significantly hotter and louder than the bottom card.

I look at this and think, should have waited, but actually, reference designs are almost always the shortest, and my case can barely hold the reference. :)

Ive ran both wf 460's and up until last week wf 670's in sli in the spec in sig, (all were 2 slot cards). Unlike blower cards, the top card in a wf config gets a lot of heat rising from the bottom one. 15c higher top card was the norm on my 670's. 70c vs 55c on the lower one. In a board with good spacing. The 460's hit 98c and 82c in a tightly spaced x58 board. My old ref 470's ran within 2c of each other.

15/12/13: Waaaaaa the reference coolers are cheap
16/12/13: Waaaaaa the aftermarket coolers are expensive

What a wonderful community we have.

Yes I took a guess at the £379.99 price expecting the premium to be around $20-$30 more than regular design, but my actual cost is $50 higher, hence the price increase to £389.99.

Still a good price and we shall have no issues selling them, so far this morning we have already sold over 50 units. :)

Meh fair enough, anyone can shop around. I'd be willing to pay the premium to OCUK if it shows in stock before Christmas. Otherwise come January the premium becomes harder to stomach.

Gigabyte are getting us 100pc before XMAS fingers crossed, we've now pre-sold 61pc, so order now and as long as Gigabyte don't get a delay, you'll have one before XMAS. :)

Great stuff Gibbo. Shame got the 780 a month ago, while wasn't expecting any of these this side of Xmas. :(

I wonder, if Gigabyte can do 1040 with R9 290, what Sapphire can do with the "Toxic" ;)
