Uniroyal rainsport 3 released

I'm thinking of trying these, Premium Contact 5s are £105 the Dunlop Sport Max RTs are around same price, however the rain sport 3s are only £73, so a saving can be made. I currently have Premium Contact 5s on the back, and Premium Contact 2s on the front which are the ones that need changing.

Last year i decided on the RS2's after years of either no name crappy tyres or 4 different brands on each corner. Best move i made, really suit my focus, great in the rain and dry. Plus from what i remember they were good in the snow earlier this year.

Got mine through black circles for £57 fitted per corner i think, which after hours of googling came up the cheapest for 195/50/15. :)

To be fair though bud, in my size (195 45 16) nothing else comes close at the same price point @ £50.

Pilots come in at around 90 a pop.

There is certainly quite a price difference but for a hot/warm hatch known for its handling I know which I'd get.

Nothing to do with driving style IMO, its all down to the mechanical grip that the chassis offers and in my case, as with ITR's, pugs etc......this is leagues ahead of the prelude. No offense intended.

With Pilots up front immediate turn in was super sharp and never tailed off.

Just to be clear, the Clio is famed with cocking a rear wheel when really pushed.

With mine running RS2's on all but the hottest day this didn't happen.

With Pilots, even on a cold, wet road.....its a tripod everywhere.

Don't get me wrong......RS2/3's will be on wifey's Mazda5 people carrier as soon as it needs them, they are safe, capable in the wet, quiet.....and less important i know, but good looking. For an aggressive drive......RS2's only work up to a point.

Sounds daft, but at the mo, i would consider Conti SC3's as a good budget buy as there are some super deal on those about and they are super as well.

Anyone experienced these yet.

I always liked Rainexpert2s on my Golf, the Escort is going to be needing 4 tyres in the new year and I'm not at all happy by the Grip levels that the current Kumho KU39s offer particularly in the wet

Got two on the front of the Mondeo, the rears are PremiumContact 5s.
I have had no problems in the rain with these, and we have had some heavy rain here recently. I am very happy with them, they just seem to grip in the dry or wet, even when its been -1.0C outside. Would be interested in official reviews to see how they perform against the top set of tyres.

Just fitted a full set to my Golf 4Motion V6. Will be interesting to see how they do. Recently put PS3s on my Octavia VRS and have been very impressed with them.

I put some rainsports2 on my car at the beginning of 2012, best choice I made considering the wash out of a summer that year!

18k miles later I have just moved them to the rear (half worn) but I have noticed that as they wore the road noise from them got worse.

Same for my UR2 I changed in Nov, but I suspect all tyres would do that when nearing the end of their life.

Still not got round to getting UR3...

That's an impressive wear rate (assuming FWD).

Yup and still legal, around 3-4mm left, even in the bad weather recently they felt fine though not as good as new. I should look at replacing but the rears have been on the car since new (2010) and still 5mm on them so swapped them round.
