Swap out a Radeon R9 270x for a Geforce 660?

Hi guys,

Considering sticking my Radeon R9 270x (Gigabyte Windforce Edition) on eBay and swapping for a Geforce 660...

I've only had my 270x for a month or two and tbh I just prefer Nvidia cards in general (as well as a 660 looking more aesthetically pleasing in my rig!)

The AMD card uses 2x 8pin PCIE power connectors which look quite ugly in my PSU at the minute, and I've noticed the 660 only needs 1 6 or 8 pin connection (I forget which one!)

I will be sleeving my power cables in the near future as well

At the minute I'm running BF4 at Ultra, as well as Blops 2 with no problem, can anyone let me know if I'll gain anything at all from a 660?

See my sig for my specs, for any bottlenecks etc

Cheers! Happy crimbo!

The HD7870 rebadge is roughly on par (if not a bit faster than) a GTX660 so it would be a side grade at best.

Other than having different drivers and a different control panel it will "feel" pretty much identical in game.

I have a GTX660 myself and I would say its not worth it,especially with the loss on the R9 270X when you sell it.

The R9 270X is faster than an HD7870. An HD7870 is faster than a GTX660 and performs better with more AA too. Moreover, even the Nvidia drivers are not always better it seems too, going from my experience of the 320 fork(although the 330 fork seems fine so far).

Also,BF4 will benefit from Mantle on top of this.

The 270X is a little faster and as above it will benefit from Mantle on BF4 once its released.
Especially with your FX-4300 as mantle will make BF4 less dependant on the CPU.

Totally agree with the above 270x to 660 not worth it, unless you mean the 660Ti, which like the 270x is faster then the 660 the 660Ti is faster than the 270x. Probably still not worth it as an upgrade as the performance difference isn't that great for the cost involved.

660Ti is a bit dearer.
In fact forget all that, the 760 is cheaper than the 660Ti and performs even better.
