Too high of a screen res?

I've noticed more than not, That if I run BF4 in 1080p it sits at 60fps on ultra with no issues.

HOWEVER, I own a 1440p screen and I love the higher res but it really does throttle my FPS down a LOT.

BF4 on ultra with 1440p will sit at 40fps and drop even lower sometimes. Do you think with my GTX 770 Overclocked, That am pushing it with a 1440p? I don't really have the cash to buy a 780 or anything higher than what I have. Does anyone have any ideas?

Spending time at 1440p and going to 1080p looks really bad and I try to avoid it when best.

What did you expect? 1440p is almost twice the pixels compared to 1080p, of course it will need more horsepower. You can try disabling AA for starters, and maybe drop those ultra configs to high (most of the time I fail to see the difference anyway unless I'm looking with a magnifying glass).

Yea, High will sit on 60fps with Vsync no problem. Just, I miss the days where I could sit on ultra on 1080p but at the sametime 1440p is too pretty :(

Am tempted to get a cheaper nvidia card and trying to use both of them.... Or I might just be talking curd.

I have 2 7950s running BF4, and they just about make 60 FPS on ultra. They're even overclocked slightly. I have AA and post processing disabled, with everything else on ultra. I also have it locked to 60 Frames. Im sure you could knock the settings down without noticing much difference.

What CPU do you have?

Would love to be able to play at ultra setting, currently using low/medium setting with my card.

what is the spec of your system? Surely, you could play at high setting. I average 100 fps with my setting.

I'm too busy racking up kills to notice the fine detail of the game.

Lacking vram and gpu grunt for 1440P Ultra Preset on a 770 2gb card.

My friends 2gb 690 chokes on Ultra 1440p, Fps drops to teens. Definitely not a behavior that i see on a 3gb 7990.

I think your friend needs to look at his system setup as my two GTX 690s have no problem beating two of my 290Xs @1600p.

Even if I run on one GPU (GTX 680 mode) the fps don't drop into the teens (they don't get much above 30fps either lol).

Nothing wrong with his setup. Turning AA off stops the drops. Performance starts off fine, then drops off after some time and tanks at intervals the more he plays.

I gave up with AMD once again and went to the 770 which I own now. I love nvidia (Fan boy go)

I think at best that was a side grade as the 280X iirc is a little faster on BF4. Also although you can scrape through with the 2gb the 770 has it is still better to have the 3gb the 280X has.

I think you should be looking to get a R9 290P as an upgrade if you want to run BF4 @1440p.

Sounds like a setup problem.

I also note on the BF4 reviews that you keep posting, the GTX 690 is second only to the HD 7990 so the reviewers don't seem to get a problem either.:D

All indications point to a lack of vram as lowering the vram usage solves the problem. Not interested getting into another vram debate over it, just my and more importantly his opinion having now used a 690 at this res for a prolonged period of time.

I don't really want to run back into AMD.

Is it possible to grab a 760, Would it work and provide more grunt or would I need another 770?
