Helloo

This year i have gone through 8+ inner tubes and 2 rear tyres! Constantly getting punctures from everything (mainly my rear tyre)

My old Bonstrager G1's did well till they started getting punctures and not having much tread, So brought some Continental Mountain King's II, Great tyres for the price ( £25 for 2 including postage and 2 conti inner tubes) and good for the snow but now they are riddled with holes and just need replacing

Im looking for some good quality but reasonably priced 26 x 2.0-2.4 inch MTB tyres with some sort of kevlar lining or something that will stop punctures from glass/thorns! or a liner that goes inside the tyre that does the same thing

Price from £25-30 preferably for 2 tyres for spare!

Many thanks

John

2.4 Rubber Queen/Mountain King combo for me. If you want to stop getting punctures then run tubeless with sealant. I personally prefer using UST as the side walls are tougher, but plently of people manage just fine with normal tyres. Google ghetto tubeless for more details. All you need are 20" bmx tubes and sealant.

My friend was telling me about that today, might just get some more mountain kings and see what getto mods I can do

Continental Mountain Kings 2.2 is what I run.

Purchased two new ones today actually. Went for folding as they are lighter and what the shop had in stock too. £20 each though.

Can get the basic non-folding ones off Chain Reaction Cycles for around £13 a tyre.

Mate had these, said they were dreadful. Infact he found some old tyres in his shed that were better.

I beleive the Mountain Kings come in different compounds though? Which could've made a massive difference.

Yeah, I've gone for the basic compound myself. I do get punctures but I've had them with every other tyre I've had.

The other compound is Black Chilli, tyres cost twice as much though but that said they are well-rated.

I am running a pair of Specialized Ground Control (previous had a Captain Control on the rear) - both tubeless using Stans no tubes - work great.

If you are going to run a sealant, I have found that with Stans no tubes, that I need to replenish it after 4 to 6 months as it dries up - still its cheap enough and works great.
