Jack Whitehall King of Comedy

So what we've established in this thread is that not everybody has the same sense of humour, and just because you don't find somebody funny doesn't mean they aren't funny to others.

Some people said Micky Flanagan is funny, I find him boring and rarely laugh at anything he says.
Somebody said Kevin Bridges isn't funny, I find him very funny.

But I don't state my opinions as facts, because I know some people believe the exact opposite to me.

Hence why it is like people claiming X is rubbish at stand-up is no more worthy of merit than someone claiming that X type of music is crap. One of the beauties of life is subjectivity, we all have different things in life we like and hate.

Personally I can't stand Whitehall but I understand and respect that he has an audience, if he didn't he wouldn't have made it.

No, you're wrong.

Only joking, the ":p" in the above post was meant to signify that I realise it's all subjective in the end :)

I find Jack Whitehall reasonably funny in his stand up routine, but I think he really shines in Fresh Meat as JP, he's hilarious in that IMO.

Paul Whitehouse, Harry Enfield, Rik Mayall, Jack Dee, Rowan Atkinson, Ricky Jervais, Steve Coogan, Ade Edmonson (in Bottom), Graham Norton (in his own show), Dom Joly (in Triggerhappy) John Cleese (back in the day), Fonejacker, Leigh Francis (in Bo Selecta), Lee Evans, all utterly brilliant and hilarious. Geniuses who were or still are pioneering and side splittingly funny.

All the rest, utter garbage and nothing that hasn't been done before mostly by the above, and a lot better. The new comedians bring neither nothing funny nor anything new to the table imho. And all these back to back bloody panel shows like 8 out of 10 **ats, is that the best we have to offer now? Jack Whitehall, king of mediocrity.

/thread :D

Micky flanagan and Kevin bridges are the 2 best comedians by far.

Kevin Bridges maybe.

Micky Flanagan isn't great though, he just says things which, are just mildly entertaining that most people can relate to. I didn't dislike his standup I just thought it wasn't very funny, it didn't make my physically laugh.

Sean Lock is comedy king is you ask me, he not only does great standup, he does panel shows and writes for other comedians.

The best thing Jack Whitehall has done is being in the presence of Mr Blobby on the Big Fat Quiz of the 90s last year. And he was **** at that too.

Jack Whitehall as a stand up isn't that funny to me. His performances on panel shows can be hit and miss. Saying that, on recommendations in this very thread, I watched the first episode of Fresh Meat last night and he was very good in that. Maybe he should stick to acting though he may be typecast as the posh **** in everything he does.

My favourite comedians

Reginald D. Hunter - The way he takes the **** out of racism, and those who get too easly offended by racism, is very funny.

Paul Merton - Very quick wit and his surreal comedy was great. I loved The Paul Merton Show.

Sean Lock - I just think he's funny.

Richard Herring - The not so readily remembered other half of the partnership with Stewart Lee.

Unfunny, to me, comedians

Phill Jupitus - So unfunny. If he is ever on QI, I cannot watch it.

Sue Perkins - The female Phill Jupitus but less funny.

Agree about Jupitus. All he does is shout ... hilarious

Another comic who I think is genuinely funny and hasn't had a mention yet is Dara O'Briain, very clever and quick witted on panel shows and also extremely funny at stand-up.

Yes, agree wholeheartedly with the Jupitus hate. The thing with him is, if he stumbles upon a funny/clever retort or gag on QI, instead of leaving it at that and moving quickly on to the next gag, like say Bill Bailey would, he drags it on and on and on, literally wringing the life out of the accidental joke he just made, all the while sideways looking at the audience for congratulation. And I ****ing hate that. Glad I got that off my chest. :)

That is exactly what he does, labours a non joke for ages because he doesn't have the wit to think on his unfunny arse.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to find him unfunny.

Dara O'Briain is a fantastic improviser live. I've seen him a couple of times and been in awe.

I recommend anyone into standup goes to see Stewart Lee live. I was just in uncontrollable fits of laughter the whole time. Genius.

It's weird, whenever Stewart Lee goes on one of his epic repetition monologues, intentionally repeating flavours of crisps say, I fall about laughing. But if Phil Jupitus repeats the same word just *once*, I want to kill him.
