Hey let me start by saying this thread is just a moan and in no way a rage at OcUK, their staff or their policies. I understand there is a business model to protect and profits to me made.
Mainly I am after some advice,
I RMA'd an Akasa Fan controller I bought from OcUK a week ago, here in this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18564845.
Damn thing cost £6.95 to send back.
In a nut shell the problem was the fans would randomly spin to full power for a second of two and then settle down to the levels I had set, after some inspection by myself all the connectors seemed fine the problem seemed to have cured itself later that evening.
The next day I got in from work and the damn thing was completely dead, no fans were spinning, the cpu and gpu temps were in the 80s god knows how long for.
I opened an RMA and told them pretty much what is in the above paragraph and was advised to send it back for a replacement.
I received and email today saying that they had got the controller back and the wiring was damaged and as such the warranty was void and was being returned to me.
I called OcUK to try and get to the bottom of it with no avail, the wires are damaged, as yet im not sure which wires as I was told I would have to wait and see for my self because its the first thing the tech guy noticed as he pulled it out of the box.
Im not the best communicator in the world and I tried to explain that the loose wires was nothing to do with me and maybe Akasa missed it during their QC but the answer was still no.
I know its not OcUKs fault that Akasa sent a poorly made item to them to sell but OcUK have set out their stall and im stuck with a piece of junk, so where do I stand now? what can I do? I have bought a fair bit of gear from OcUK before and have never came across a problem, always great stuff and always great service. I recommend them to everybody.
Towards the end of the conversation I was getting frustrated that I couldn't find the magic words to get the guy to understand I didn't break it and I didn't notice the lose wires, if I had I would have mentioned it in my original conversation when I raised the RMA. I guess I was a bit sarcastic as I put the phone down, which to be fair was a retarded thing to do.
So what do I do now? Get in touch with Akasa? put it down as a lesson learned and just by a different controller and get over it or what? It angers me the most because I know 100% I didn't break those wires, more than anything I feel rage towards Akasa.
Any help about how to solve this would be welcomed as I have never had to deal with DSR.
Cheers.
