It would appear that I have improved my vehicles torque/ fuel consumption by rapping aluminium cooking foil around the HT leads from the coil to the plugs. Thus creating a "Faraday Cage" (Many cars today have individual coils on top of the plugs)
Or is this an illusion?

Yes it is. You have discovered the placebo effect.

Screening the HT leads might help if you had a radio interference problem caused by radiated emissions but what made you think this will improve economy and performance? Did you see a review of "Nology Hotwires" by any chance?
