Just seen it on BBC news. I work round that area and am often on Kennington Road in South East London.

No links yet, a number of people killed apparently.

A bus has collided with a tree in south London, causing substantial damage to the front of the vehicle and trapping two passengers inside.

The London Fire Brigade said firefighters were working hard to free them, and about a dozen people are believed to be injured.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) and police are also at the scene.

LAS said the incident, involving the number 59 bus, took place on Kennington Road, at the junction with Lollard Street.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said they were called to the “road traffic collision involving a bus and a tree” at 10.50am. Crews including London’s Air Ambulance are in attendance.

More to follow.

Wear a seatbelt! It's the law!!!

Unless you're crammed into an massive 8 tonne metal box on wheels with 50 other people, then just let the bodies fall where the may. Have your Rob Zombie track ready in the event of a crash.

Update on BBC
About a dozen people are injured - two of them critically - and two people are trapped after a bus crashes in south London.

Apparently it swerved to avoid another vehicle. I'm sure the on-board CCTV will be able to provide more info. Looking at the photo, anyone sitting on the top deck, at the front and on the left side of the bus, would not have had much chance to get out of the way.

Not to disrespect those that have been injured but why is a bus crash a major news story?

Online updates from joe public making local news BIG news! Give it a few hours and there will be internet memes with the retarded dog as the driver with teenagers wetting themselves over the 'hilarity' of it all.

Tell me about it, most London bus drivers are bloody awful.

Randomly this morning on the bus to work I was actually thinking how daft it was to have a big metal box full of heavy human projectiles free to shoot around if it crashes.

That's why I try and stand with my back facing the direction of travel, on the "screen" by the exit doors, or if not in use, the disabled/child buggy area where I can stand again with my back facing the direction of travel.
