The motherboard will be fine for gaming and some overclcocking. The PSU will be fine too.

Although I don't have Haswell, from what I know it likes faster ram. I guess that is not an option to be replacing though since its a pre-overclocked bundle. Honestly I would advise you to just buy the i5/ram/mobo separately. You do save a bit and you can customize things a bit more to your tastes (also that 4.2 ghz overclock you will be able to do yourself easily once you read a guide or two).

As for the 770 vs 280/etc. Id personally get a 280 regardless of price hikes.

You do not have a SSD listed in your spec up, do you have one already? Every new build should really be having a SSD in it nowadays. I cant stress this enough! Something like a Samsung 840 evo.

Im sure someone with a lot more knowledge will come in and give you some better advise but these are just my initial thoughts. GL with it all and enjoy :)

Doomed mate, you might want to check the height of that Ereboss. Stulid pulled me up the other week and reckons with the fan fitted, it is actually about 173mm. The specs don`t give a combined measurement. But if you look at the pic in the specs, the fan does indeed protrude above the cooler.

thanks for the input guys, i do like that build doomed, i did hear that some 280x's are using an updated tahiti chip and some are using the old one, apparently the newer one runs 6 degrees cooler on average?

i think the Msi 280x has the newer chip, i felt a bit sick after missing out on £275 + ruby game voucher on that particular card

going with Ati graphics comes more naturally to me, although my old rig was red/black so i did fancy switching up the aesthetics! however i think i may have to compromise given the potential gains :p

thanks guys, those are some really interesting components i hadn't considered up until now! Evidently i was missing good deals somewhere, your build even includes an ssd! id heard that only bequiet/corsair/seasonic psu's were worthwhile, which was tying me into high priced psu's for example!

im definitley going with the 280x now!

interesting budget alternative:

I would put Superflower on par with Seasonic, maybe even above. They are a very good brand.

Total : £946.43 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Xfire capable thanks to the 850W PSU (fully modular). This GB Sniper really is fantastic bang for buck as it offers SLi/Xfire and very decent onboard audio. It's a little more than you want to pay but you do get BF4 and a choice of games with the 280X.

All the best with it bud, we look forward to seeing what you choose :)

If it was me I would put these components in.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X Rev2.0 WindForce 3X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Battlefield 4 PC Game £269.99
1 x Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £112.99
1 x Avexir Venom Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17200C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U21330904G-2CIG) - Green Light £79.99
1 x Be Quiet Power Zone 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Fully Modular Power Supply £79.99
Total : £552.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

The Gigabyte card is a few quid cheaper, and is just as good as the MSI.

The BeQuiet power supply is fully modular, and probably slightly better build quality than the Corsair.

The Sniper motherboard is very good and would look nice with the Ram below.

The Ram is better looking than the Kingston and has Green LED's to match the motherboard. You have a window in your case, so might as well be looking at a matching rig.
