Basically I added some fans to the top of my case that was all I did to do a push pull but to do this I took out 2 sticks of RAM. Now after getting all the ram back in I booted up and my computer showed ram error on Dr debug. Bear in mind that the case booted from where it was and I never moved it to check ram I just shut down by keeping my finger on the power and forgot to turn the power off at the back I leant in a checked the RAM and it wasn't seated correctly then as I turned it on it blinked an went straight off with a burning smell I have checked all sticks on there own all if different slots I have take board out to power on its on and all it does is loop a restart after a second or 2 all fans come on like CPU and case fans I took out my cards hard drives and tried a standalone boot and again still nothing have I shorted my board by making that stupid mistake?

Hello;

Can you see any burn marks on the motherboard? And or RAM that was not seated correctly?

Yes its possible..To answer your question..

Does the board boot with just one ram stick in it, using a stick that was seated correctly..

No nothing no burn marks on RAM or bored. I suspect psu now as I brought a new board tested that and I get no power to the new board at all now yet my old one looped on and off

Did you pull the power when removing and re-installing RAM?

**Edit** sorry, re-read that that's exactly what happened.

Had a head in hands moment recently where my PC was off and pulled out a gfx card only for the machine to power on as I'd forgotten to switch the psu off.

Luckily I hadn't fried anything, but its so easy to do.

I doubt you have fried your board. Check PSU by bridging the connection if it comes to life then its probably not the PSU. Remove all ram carefully, inspect and clean the contacts on it very gently, reinsert and make sure its firmly locked in. You're going to need to just work through all the issues logically and slowly. Try with 1 stick of ram in, You said the new board wont power up are you using the same ram in it?

Yes but surly the board would still boot? Also I put a tester on the psu yesterday and it had the -5 volts light off but even after disconnecting the power supply the 5+ volts light stayed on for 3 mins even though there was no power going to it. And yes I tried with different sticks individually and no sticks on my old board but it just keeps re setting now when I put a tester on my psu it comes on with the 24pin in the tester but when I put that back on my new board I get nothing

thats just remaining charge left in the caps

odd issue mate, guess its just work through the list

Make sure 8pin is plugged into the mobo, make sure 24pin is plugged into mobo, power on wired up correctly

Try new psu etc hope you get it sorted
