hey

so i seen the fx 8320 analysis thread and went ahead a bought a fx 8320, CVFZ mobo and a H80i.

this is my first ever AMD build so i have no idea what im doing when it comes to overclocking, would it be possible if you could guide me through it and help get the chip to 4.8+?

im at work atm but i will be home and at the PC about 4ish

my system specs

FX 8320
CVFZ mobo
2x4gb xms3 1600mhz
H80i
gigabyte HD 7990
antec truepower 750w PSU
OCZ vertez 2E 120gb
1TB HDD
CM storm trooper case
corsair quiet edition fans

i have used the same settings in the pics, and my PC has blue screened while playing BF4, how do i stabilise my overclock?

my 7990 it as stock
 
Anyone? I idle at 11deg with a 4.6 over clock so would like to push it more, what do I change in the bios and what do I set it too?
 
Set Vcore it 1.45v

Increase multiplier by 1, run Intel Burn Test for 5 runs, if it passes increase multiplier and test again

Rinse and repeat until you hit MAX overclock or temp limit.
 
And if you have good cooling solution (water), 1.5v is still OK with the FX83xx.
Had one and was fine.

Bear in mind, you need to raise the CPU NB to 1.3
 
The proper way to OC any mobo/CPU/RAM setup is to drop the RAM and CPU multis low and also the HT and NB multi's and then raise the busclock incrementally until it will not boot. This will give the maximum busclock for the combination without overclocking the CPU and memory buses. Doing this I found I could easily use up to a 300MHz busclock on my 8350. The key voltages here are the NB and CPU/NB.

Having selected a busclock to apply (not necessarily the maximum), you can setup the multipliers for the RAM and also HT and NB so that these are fixed to suit the memory frequency you require and somewhere between 2400 and 2700 for HT and NB. Set Vram to 1.6 - 1.65V.

Finally with everything else stable and running, turn your attention to the CPU . Set a reasonably high Vcore and boot using higher multipliers in 0.5x steps, you can start at 4.4GHz if you have good aftermarket cooling.

If you want to fine tune the frequency a little more, you may find dropping the busclock a few MHz will allow a higher multiplier.

I have been OC'ing AMD for about 15 years on similar principles and this is the bulletproof way to do it, although somewhat long winded.

Own 3 fx 8 cores at ~5+ and have overclocked others. Taking time finding your limits in an order which will allow you to maximise your CPU clock will give you the best result. By doing it this way, you can exclude memory errors and such when it has been tuned down to get the bus speed.
 
hey guys,

im having some problems, i have just set up a 144hz monitor and now my PC blue screens when i start to enter a BF4 server,

i have multi 23
bus 200
1.45v
NB V 1.3

i have disabled all auto overclocking and power saving options and have set digi+ to the same settings as posted at the begining of the thread.

something is not right, and it was fine last night while i was running my 60hz monitor
