First Projector

Hello All,

Wondering if there are any Projector experts out there who can help spec me one.

Primarily used for Films/Gaming I am after a 1080P Projector which remains good quality with a short throw distance (think that's the right terminology) - it will be 2.5-3m back from the wall and I am hoping to get 120"+ out of it. I am hoping It will be ceiling mounted (looking at flats now so will ask the question).

I am not massively into 3D but this would be an added bonus if it fit in my budget, which while we are on budgets mine is £800-1000. I don't mind going a bit over if warranted.

I will have Sky, XBox One and Media PC going into it for output.

Not sure what other information is needed.

Verymuch this! Lens shift is worth its weight in gold.

:edit: By the way you're unlikey to get 120" from such a short throw. The TW3200 was one of the best for short throw distance when I bought mine a few months ago, and I get 100" maximum on my wall which is between two and a half to three metres away. That is at absolutely maximum lens shift though, so you might get an inch or two more if you're projecting straight on and using no lens shift.

Not Flexible = no ceiling mount allowed

Flexible = ceiling mount allowed

Is that how I should read your advice?

Did some reading, so the TW6100 has no lens shift meaning it needs to be placed in it's ideal position, whereas with the others I can put it somewhere of my choosing and utilize tilt shift to get the output where i need it to be?

Yep, the PJ just needs to be in more or less the right place (not exact) & the lens shift compensates for up/down left/right. It still needs to be level though. :)

Correct. Need to find out if you can place projector in a right place.
 
I've been seeing really good things for the BenQ W1070 and it's currently at £599.

Anyone got any experience with these?

I have this and it's excellent. Had an Optoma HD67N before (720) which was great for gaming but this is far better.
PS3 games looks great, but my PC games at 1080P and maxed out are leagues better. Blu-ray movies look stunning.
My picture size is about 84" at about 2 metres.
