This is going to get some traction I can see it coming.

If I was refused to be sold some product from their store due to the religious beliefs of the checkout staff member serving me, I'd dump the lot there and walk out and shop somewhere else.

I think that's why they all seem so angry in the middle east. I would be pretty ****ed off if i was called to prayer at some horrid early hour in the morning on a Sunday and was then told I couldnt have a bacon sandwich.

Religion has no place in a business as far as I'm concerned.

While I try to respect everyone's beliefs I think this is going too far. Getting real fed up of this stuff.

Not that I shop at M&S, they sell rubbish goods at very expensive prices, they also charge you the earth for what are tiny shopping bags

Solution is simple. Stop shopping at M&S... They'll get the message eventually

At what point did M&S, the company, *refuse* to sell anyone anything? :confused:

No-one was refused anything. A particular member of staff said they weren't able to do something, and they got a member of staff who was. Who cares what the rationale is?

A ridiculous manufactured ragestorm.
 
It's just a policy put in place to cover their backs should some fool member of staff take them to court because their "rights" were being violated. That staff will just decline to sell it and another staff will make the transaction - Seems simple enough?

On the other side though you have restaurants and stores owned by religious people who are fully licensed to sell Alcohol and will be glad to sell you their stock without kicking up a fuss over which is essentially absolutely a non issue.

It's a business they're running, they're not actually consuming or touching the drink or meat raw so again, to me the people who do decline are just being an arse for the sake of being an arse and causing a scene and those kind of people exist in all beliefs.
 
I don't really understand. They are not handling the food. They are simply handling either glass, paper or plastic :confused:
 
I don't like selling cigarettes and alcohol to people. Then again I'm not tied to a religion so it's ok to hold me to task on such personal preferences. If I refused to do it though I wouldn't be able to do my job and thus let go.

I +1 this

I use a taxi rank a lot by me all muslims and you know what they eat BLT every morning.

I this this stuff more than a put on than anything(like everything else they do)


I'll be ******ed if they do this in morrisons as I get my shopping with a few packs of chops and bacon from there.:(
