M&S have dropped a clanger

I think the actual issue with this is that it appears, at a glance, to only apply to religious members of staff.

It's ridiculous really... Anyone could have ethical issues with goods/produce from particular companies, countries (and perhaps more reasonable objections than some old book + imaginary friend forbids it) it doesn't appear that they'd get a free pass to boycot.

I want to work there so I can refuse to serve anyone whose face I can't fully see.

Again, which person of reasonable intelligence cares what packaged product they're handling if it's not going to directly affect them?

We are already talking about religious people and their imaginary friends. I think "reasonable intelligence" is already out the window.

WHAT?! I dont get it you walk into a shop, you want some bacon, you get served by someone who is a vegetarian do they then get the right to refuse to sell you meat? NO

So why muslims OR anyone who has religious beliefs?, sorry love if you can't sell me the bacon then gtfo the chair and let someone else serve me. In fact why don't you go work for a greengrocers -.-

"If people don't want to serve products based on religious beliefs then they are clearly not fit for the job" Too true!

I read and lolled. and people don't think that Muslim immigration to this country has caused problems and will continue to cause further larger problems as our population shifts more towards 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation immigrants.

I don't think Winston Churchill would have been very trilled at all.

Some examples of things we do not need in this country

A British woman with the mental age of a child was forced to marry a Pakistani immigrant and have his baby so that he could gain the right to live in Britain.

A secret court heard that the 37-year-old, who has a reading age of seven, was slapped around the face by her mother to make her smile for her wedding photograph.

The judge’s ruling, seen by The Mail on Sunday, reveals that fears were raised she was being ‘manipulated’ and her parents were being paid £20,000 to marry off their daughter to the Muslim student, who was facing deportation.

The problem within Is growing.

The top five non-UK born mothers’ countries by number of births were Poland, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria.

Not all births are necessarily to parents who live in Britain permanently, as some could be people who travel to the UK to take advantage of its free NHS.

Last month, a leading surgeon, Professor Meirion Thomas, said the UK was becoming the ‘world’s maternity wing’ as people travel here simply to give birth.

Shop manager fail.
Just serve the customer, stop embarrassing the brand of M&S and stop embarrassing them for being non Muslim or you are fired. Simples.

This is the hidden intention of these kind of religious rules, to enforce unquestioning compliance of even the stupidest idea and to separate believers from non believers, so you have situations where you can't see their face and they can't eat your food.

Many cults work along the same concepts, sepearate people from reality and they will start to believe any old tosh.

OMG, another pointless muslim thread. Where not allowed to drink or sell Alcohol, whats the problem? Ur never going to go into the store to find only a muslim worker are you? No, so just go to the white/black person to buy your alcohol.

Id say it was fair to ask for non muslims to ask to be able to NOT sell Halal meat on the grounds of animal cruelty, which is a much more steadfast reason than a preposterous belief from an aged book.

Infact would labels on the food packaging for Halal meat that had grotesque images of ritual slaughter be any better or worse than the images on a packet of cigarettes?

This doesn't phase me in any way. However, it's only fair to let the customer know that they may have to wait a little longer to have their food processed. Perhaps have a pork and booze free checkout?

If someone is incapable of selling a product due to their ridiculous beliefs, then they are clearly not fit to work in a shop that sells said products.

Absolutely pathetic from M&S to allow this.

Wow, I didn't know that you had to be a particular colour to be a Muslim, you learn something new every day...
