Choosing a 780 ti

I'm hoping to upgrade this month from a geforce 470 to possibly a 780 ti.

There's a lot of choice in that department and I've been doing some research. I'm thinking perhaps the Gigabyte windforce OC version. There is the ghz version coming out shortly as well, but from reviews, it's quite noisey. One thing I really dislike about my 470, sounds like someone is doing the hoovering.

There's also an Asus direct cu coming out soon as well, so perhaps this could be a better choice.

Are there better choices, recommendation etc?

The MSI gaming version has a faster shader clock than the Gigabyte but is cheaper (well the same at the moment due to the offer on Overclockers).

Wouldn't the MSI be superior then? They seem to have the same noise according to reviews.

I gotta say you MIGHT encounter a bottleneck with that CPU although I would suspect you would be fine, have you thought about a normal 780? cheaper less chance of bottleneck and still a colossal upgrade over your 470.

The Gigabyte TI:

Pros:
Amazing cooler very quiet very cool
Its Gigabyte, with black pcb!
Cons:
Slightly lower shader clock
Wont be at that price forever
The MSI TI:

Pros:
Looks nice
Slightly higher shader clock
Claims of anti-coil whine technology
Twin Frozr line

Cons:
Cooler might not be as good as the WFx3
Wont be at that price forever

other factors to consider: search if they are voltage locked, look at peoples clocks with the same cards

Non TI-
gigabyte wfx3 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-114-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341 £379.99 this week only
MSI TF - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-209-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341 £379.99 this week only
MSI Lightning - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-207-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341 £419.99 this week only

one parting word of advice, look at this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18231329 You will see Gigabytes RMA/Warranty top of the list. MSI hasn't been so great with theirs the last few years.

The price doesn't bother really. I'm thinking of ordering tomorrow, payday :).

I want to play DayZ, Wildstar (okay not special graphics there), Arma 3, Skyrim etc at highest details and with a smooth experience. I game at 1080p.

I've tried pushing three. none of them break 1250. It's not criminal but it's not great either lol.
1250 is a pretty dam good overclock....

That higher then most the Ti overclocks they managed in reviews

For example in this review of a Gigabyte WF GeForce GTX 780 Ti GHz Edition they only got 1190mhz

Can the GHz Edition go further? Yep, a little bit. We were only able to add another 40MHz to the core before running into stability issues, but the frame buffer proved willing at an effective 7,600MHz.

And in this one they got 1205MHz
