Choosing a 780 ti

At 1080p you don't need to spend £500-£600, it'd be better to go with a 290(non-x) or a gtx780 for £300-£400, put the money saved towards an upgrade of the CPU & mobo.

What are you on about?

OP was having a hard time deciding what card to get as both had different shader clocks listed on the cards page here : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-241-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1402
and here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-129-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1402

but its BS, if your core clock is 1000mhz then your shader clock is 1000mhz. as such OP should disregard "Shader clock" entirely when deciding between GPU's in this instance.

I'll upgrade my CPU and motherboard but probably later down the line. Although I guess an alternative option is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-127-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341. I'm not really bothered about the cost, just want to crank everything up on max settings and get good FPS :D.

I ordered the msi 780 ti last weekend and can recommend it, max stable clock i got is 1200 on the core and 7800 on the memory which isnt too bad, it is pretty quiet too.

with regards to the psu, my system doesn't draw more than 430w (playing crysis 3 and cpu @ 4.4ghz) using a power meter, which at 80% efficiency is ~345w, so a good quality 650w psu should be fine

Maybe I should go for a normal 780. Been looking at the fps scores between the 780 and 780 ti, and it seems you pay around £200 more for 10 fps or so gain.

not had a std 780 myself, but the Ti does clock like hell and will get a massive boost in performance,
Plus is quiet as a mouse

but as you say its a very pricey card for what you get

I just got my Classy today oc'ed 1149 on core/1279 boost clock on air stock bios "not LN2"/ power target 110 - temp linked with a custom fan curve. Stable in Heaven haven't tried in game yet.

That's because the reference EVGA cards are naff :). You'll have more luck with the Gigabyte ref cards because they don't bin them.

Is that so? I don't seem to have and problems getting decent clocks with my EVGA SC 780Ti's.

I'm happy with both my mom gpu and mobo even thinking of a 2nd may gpu

Im happy with your mom too :D
