After ideas for a modern 4/5 Door with 400hp+ (M5/S6/RS6 etc) for £15000

Very nice, do have a soft spot for these, just makes me think of Layer Cake and start humming the Cult whenever I see one :)

The only thing I don't like about these is the horrid dated sat nav, I had the same in the 1.8t Passat Estate I bought after my blue diesel one, it was absolutely terrible to use! Any plans to remedy it? Pioneer do some great ones.

I already own a top spec Garmin stand-alone unit to use in the Mondeo so I'll just keep using that.

The RNS-D is pretty poor but I don't use the TV (analogue only), CD Player (don't own any) or Sat Nav functions (got one already) so it's just radio for me however the Bose system inc Sub is extremely good so far. I'm looking into Ipod connectivity next but it'd probably be best just to replace the head unit if I wanted any real usability out of the Ipod.

The only problem I've found so far is the Cruise Control not working which is fairly minor. I'll get MRC to see if there's any fault codes for it and do a switch test via the diagnostic software they have.

I have the XCarLink in mine and its pretty much spot on for me although the functionality is pretty limited. I use Spotify on random which gets around just about every limitation :D

If you decide to bin your RNS-D, would you post it to me instead? :p

DRZ - I leave my Ipod on random and just need to to hit "Next Track" to skip daft songs, is that easy to do with the XCarLink you've got? I don't need any more functionality than track skipping so if it does that then it sounds like a winner to me.

Love that pic of the Dakota, I have a model of one stored away somewhere.

I'd be interested to hear the results of the healthcheck when you get round to it.

Nice, sure.

But, like Fox, I'm puzzled you tried the e60 M5 but not the e39 variant, which I'd personally prefer over the Audi - and especially a Lotus Carlton!!! (Sorry Matt!)

I got the whole no E39 thing in a class of E60 M5's, C6 S6's and E55 AMG's but it's the prime rival to a C5 RS6 which is why I'm confused it never entered the equation.

[TW]Fox - I think I mentioned it earlier but it was the interior that put me off the E39, it felt very "dated" to me probably due to it feeling very similar to the E38 I had (and didn't like).

Here's some better pics -

How often does that happen? I think in 10 years I've never had an E60 M5 pull up alongside me at traffic lights.
In hundreds of thousands of miles I don't recall it happening, either. Besides, the RS6 will probably leave the M5 sat at those lights if it's anything other than a perfectly dry summer's day!

I think even in the wet the extra 50 bhp, less weight and a smg box is going to beat that tank off the line?
