going for my first real set up and decided on the ONKYO TX NR626 for the receiver but I am unsure on the speakers, has anyone got/used these?

Mainly to be used for films and TV with the odd music as well.

Many thanks

I was looking at those.....I was leaning towards the Wharf's purely for the look of them without the cover....which sounds stupid, I know.

:) - I was in the same quandry but I hardly listen to music - more for movies.

I was offered some ex-demo DX1's for £299 but decided to get the Tannoy's (same price brand new from richersounds).

If you do go for the Tannoy's I'd look around online mate - I notice they seem to fluctuate in price widely! - When I first wanted them they were £299 (richer sounds) - by the time I got round to buying them - they'd jumped back to £359 - so I ended up calling them and they said they'd sort me out for £299 :)

Think the tannoy's are slightly larger but this is a good thing - theyre made of solid wood so hold the sound VERY well indeed whereas I found the DX1's to be a tad small and plasticy.

Your call bud - check the link above - it seems the DX1's are better for music whereas the Tannoy's are better for movies etc.

Bit of an update I managed to get my hands on 2 Kef 305's for an absolute steal.

So out went the package idea and now going to buy separately, what would people recommend for a sub/centre and should the Kefs be used as front or surround?

Many thanks

Alex

A little late, but when you bought them did you demo both sets of Speakers?
