For people that don't take a second look or try to comprehend why the price is so good for a r9 290x you are correct. I had to take a second look because of the price and off course the X .

I didn't and only noticed after someone pointed it out. I think if I was buying though, I would have looked a little deeper and spotted it.
 
The only reason I really noticed it wasn't a true X version was because the price looked to good to be true...

so I dug deeper


This kind of false marketing by companys like what VTX3D has done here should be banned...

They have had x editions before with the 7970 x-edition. When the X wasn't a different version of the card. X is how they brand their slightly overclocked card.

No way I'd be able to handle the fan speed of the 290 at the kind of speeds which keep it up with a 780 at 1250/7500 :). So a downgrade for me. Except Mantle which is unknown.

An R290 would need mantle just to try and keep up with your GTX 780 at them clocks....:D

Just to add. The VTX 290 turned up bang on time yesterday. Installed with zero issues but unfortunately is not unlockable. Still a very happy bunny though!

Yeah mine didn't unlock either. Mind you i didn't expect them to otherwise they wouldn't have been sold for £299. ;)
