2013 - how was it for you?

Great start, shocking end, just about salvaged in the last couple of weeks to be more or less better than the original starting point.

Got engaged in the first half of the year, and that's the high point for me.

travelled to Taipei/Scotland/Vienna

Considering that those are 3 of the 5 places I've ever lived (well, Tainan, but close enough), and I spent 6 months this year in Farnborough, I can't quite believe I've not run in to you :p

Pretty good on the whole - got engaged at the beginning, then ran out of money in Taiwan, so went to live back in the UK with my fiancee for 6 months, failed to make any money there either, but did more exploring showing her around the country than in the rest of my life combined. Got offered a job back in Taiwan, moved over here again, quit after one day and ended up managing a bar instead. Same thing really.

So, I'm still poor, still not teaching, and still don't have my own place. On the plus side, my family love my partner, we're getting married and our own flat in a month's time, and I'm back living in Tainan. No major losses, one huge gain, hell of a lot better than the last 2 years :)

Not a good year, father ill, partners daughter going through teenage hell and us bumping along for the ride with it.

Hoping for better soon!

I think it's been a pretty good year, the past 3 years have been utter **** to me but towards the end of this year it's been a nice change :)

Erm a bit hit and miss 2013 never really got going from a business perspective although its picked up i the winter months, we had a new car, new kitchen and i managed to send my wife away on holiday for a week and built an awesome rig for myself and made a friend but on the down side my father in laws MS has got a lot worse and he is running me and my wife ragged doing errands, i removed a friend from my life doen to their own stupidity, the cat cost me a fortune at the vets, somebody hit the car and drove away, TWICE!!!! and i put on a whole damn stone this year too grrrrr!!!
I guess the good out weigh the bad, my problems are miniscule compared to some people so i dont dwell on them to much.
I intend to grab 2014 by the balls and make it my bitch, we want to change the other car, do at least one more room in the house, have a holiday and put a few quid in the bank so when i go back to the shop on 2nd January im gunna work like a demon.

EDIT: It will be my 3rd wedding anniversary in Feb, i turn 30 in July and im best man at my friends wedding so i guess thats a few things to look forward to already.

All round been a fairly great year. Done some Travelling.

Dubai, Vegas, San diego, LA, Whitby. :)

Things are still going very well with the missus.

Job is going well..

All round happy! :)

It's been pretty good for me -

Got a pay rise, achieved an ambition in buying a Jag, and most importantly I've met a wonderful woman who makes me very happy.

Managed to get what I needed from my A Levels and get into Uni. Even managed to decide at the end of June that Chemistry would be what I want to do :p

2013 was a year of CHANGE:

- Start of year: New job, new country, new culture. Took the wife for a short City Break for her Birthday for the first time ever
- First quarter: Massive ankle injury taking me completely out of my gym routine and ability to do sports for months
- Quarter to Mid-year: Visited Thailand (and Asia) for the first time in my life. Was blown away by it, such a beautiful place, people and culture. Travelled with wife only
- Summer: Holiday in Rhodes (Greece) with the kids and wife. Great fun and my ankle recovered enough to actually take part in lots of sporty stuff. Woke up one morning at 5 a.m. and couldn't sleep - ended up scaling a nearby mountain in shorts/sandals to catch an epic sunrise over the bay.
- 3rd Quarter: Ended marriage of 12 years, in spite of best efforts to work things out for the sake of the family
- 3rd Quarter to Christmas: Moving out, re-organising, re-evaluating. Started running and took part in some small-distance runs (4 and 5K) for the first time, started socialising with people for the first time in years and met lots of great folk and made some good friends, attended events/parties like there was no tomorrow...went out on a single date (so far)

So pretty damn epic so far, and still in a state of some fluctuation...but geared up to make things better and - Just. Be. HAPPY. In Life.

I feel like I am truly blessed with my life, even though this is a little bit of a harder and lonelier time, focusing on the short to medium term without sweating the big details is definitely the best approach for now. Life is what I make of it. Also, Man of Steel was my "Birthday" movie so...go figure :D

Highlights:
- Bought a big house in a nice part of London with my girlfriend
- Proposed to my girlfriend (who said yes! :p)
- Worked on some really cool projects and our company won Apple's iPad app of the year
- Went on some nice holidays

Lowlights:
- Too busy to get to any of the OCuk meets this year. :(
- Umm... watching Spurs play?
