Bought one for my cousin for Christmas. PC turns on, nothing but a black screen. Motherboard BIOS has been updated, the card is connected via HDMI lead to the monitor.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77-D3H
Processor: Intel i5 3470S (Ivy Bridge)
Memory: Corsair 8GB 1600MHZ
Hardrive (OS & Games): Seagate 1TB Barracuda
SuperFlower 550W PSU

Any ideas? He's a teenager and he's not happy. :)

Which make/model 270X is it?

I know their has been an issue with the Gigabyte Windforce flickering black, their is a BIOS out that fixes that, not on the Gigabyte website yet.

I'm not sure it's the exact same, but someone had an issue on the AMD forums with the same card, they e-mailed Gigabyte, and was issued with a new F2 BIOS.

It's not on the Gigabyte website yet, but I am guessing it will be soon.

Step1) Download the Gigabyte VGA@BIOS tool first: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/utility.aspx?cg=3

Step2) Get the GV-R927XOC-2GD BIOS (F2) here: http://docs.google.com/file/d/0Byw67CyZYE4QOEN2UzVFaGx4bkk/edit?usp=sharing&pli=1

Did he try resetting the cmos? Think there's a button on the mobo. I've had to do that with a giga z77 ud5h when switching cards although I would have thought updating the bios would cause a reset anyway.
Or try the card in another machine.

Urgh, he's still on F16. Is it easier flashing it from the BIOS or within Windows?

Flashing a gigabyte board with @BIOS these days, aslong as your windows install isn't loaded up with gunk that might unexpectedly restart or interupt it, is pretty much as effective as using a bootable USB stick or whatever and less messing about. I'd probably reccomend Wazza's method though to anyone your not sure of their OS environment heh.
