I have a few quid to spend on an upgrade on a system that is 3 years old with some upgrades. Looking to not go nuts but my budget has lots of flexibility for the right components and making it future proof.

I use the system for gaming and CAD work and as I mentioned would love to have some future proofing so further down the line I could crossfire etc.

Current Specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @3.2 Ghz
Akaska Venom CPU cooler
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO
Gigabyte HD 7950 3072mb
12 GB Corsair XMS2 memory 1600mhz (its 2x4gb and 2x2gb)
OCZ Vertex 3 SSD 240GB
WD 500 GB 7200rpm HDD - not currently installed
OCZ StealthXstream II 600W
Antec 300 case

I am mostly looking to upgrade the mobo, cpu and cpu cooler but an open to ideas! Looking at i7 4770k for the cpu.

Thanks in advance!

Edit - Would also look to change my case fans for something a little quieter!

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £169.99
Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £152.99
Silverstone Heligon SST-HE01 CPU Cooler Silverstone Heligon SST-HE01 CPU Cooler £64.99

Total : £397.57

As nice as the Heligon is Im not sure it will fit in a Antec 300, the cooler is 161mm without the fan. Im sure I read somewhere that the 300 takes upto 160mm.

This was what I was thinking of currently, then just to figure out some new case fans!

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £245.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £152.99
1 x Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler £19.99
Total : £428.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

But thats from my limited knowledge and the use of google!

Then we argue that the cooler above is in no way good enough for the OC board:D

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £245.99
1 x Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £119.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-SLI Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £109.99
1 x Akasa AK-CC4013EP01 Nero 3 V2 Premier CPU Cooler £25.99
Total : £511.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Both these boards do SLI+Crossfire at 8X/8X, the Sniper has the better sound and killer NIC.

You could also get the Corsair AF series, they are really good apparently! About £13 I believe.

You could keep your current psu until you crossfire. Then you would need a 750W such as the Corsair RM 750W. The Noiseblocker fans Idleman specced are very good so left them in :)
