Google Glass

I was thinking about these this week. They were meant to be out at the end of this year but I think they've run out of time now.

I'd be very interested in them for my bike instead of getting a cycle computer this year. These with Strava would be great.

Indeed hence me asking :D

Until its written in law someone will do it and plead ignorance.

General driving laws will already prevent the use of them while driving, just like driving blind-folded is illegal without any specific law being in place.

Fair enough. It seems like google glass is banned in a lot of places already. I wonder with the pedofile news recently if they'll ban use in public places with children.

I do think its a great idea but I don't see it going well with privacy concerns.

Probably better posted in phones section.

I only have a left eye. Right eye is blind. Would such Glass or lens be pointless on me? Lens prescription btw is -27.5, not something that you get done in a high street optician's.

That's very much for debate. There is nothing that makes this explicitly illegal.

It is going to get interesting - for example, in cinemas. They make a big fuss about not having any recording devices out, but who would even know if someone was recording the film with these?

There are general rules that state the driver must be capable of safely operating the vehicle, e.g. "Driving without due care and attention"

You cannot be driving with due care and attention when blindfolded.

Some countries and areas will also have specific rules, e.g. here is a Virginia driving code:
"46.2-855. Driving with driver's view obstructed or control impaired."

This is an reckless driving violation subject to fine and imprisonment.
