I'm craving some sci fi tonight

Started very well but after one of the characters left in the early series it started sliding. In the later seasons it bombed hard. It went from having a nice continual sub plot to a set of random encounters summed up nicely in 40mins. It was obvious they had no other ideas to throw in and just limped it on.

Real shame as I got to season 4 and lost the will to view :(

Nothing to do with any loss of characters (I'm presuming you mean Rev Bem- The actor left after developing an allergy to the Magog makeup) IMHO, far more to do with the loss of Robert Hewitt-Wolfe.
He developed and wrote most of the first season, and had input into the second season.
I don't remember the exact basis of the argument he had with the Roddenberry estate, but IIRC they wanted a lighter, more episodic tone a-la Star Trek, rather than the much darker and at least semi-contiguous track he was taking :)
There were also some fun and games around Lexa Doig's (Andromeda) pregnancy, which probably also had an impact, but again I'd really have to go fishing for the details!

Sci-fi guys, can anyone put a name to this film that scared the poop out of me when I was younger.

This is what I can remember, earth is a slum, a robot is on the loose, and the film is set in a huge high rise flat area, and the main thing I remember was the robot is in the apartment with a lady hiding behind the curtains/blinds and you could see the red light from its eyes through the blinds.

I remember getting to that part, watching it with my dad and thinking "**** this I'm away to bed"

I was trying not to give it away, but yes Rev added something to the series that was never replaced. I didn't know that about the writer leaving but that does make sense with the shift of style and tone of the series. Thanks for this :)

Same story with the the europa report. Two films i wouldn't watch again, but kinda glad i did so to speak.

Thanks for this, I watched Europa Report yesterday and really enjoyed it. It felt more believable than a lot of modern Sci-Fi.

odyssey 5, dark skies and space: above and beyond are all well worth watching

Another vote for Space Above & Beyond. It's kind of like a cross between Wing Commander and Starship Troopers, done by Chris Carter (X-Files). There are some outstanding episodes and a proper story arc, at least for its short life.

I watched Saturn 3 the other night. It was pretty rubbish, but not the worst film ever made, and it does have Harvey Keitel as some kind of Cyborg thing!
