OCUK forum speed/responsiveness

All those threads just seem to be spam, should be closed temporarily at least to reduce load, as the problems have been going on for several months now.

If putting a stop to a few posts per minute at most will alleviate the load problems, OcUK has bigger problems than that :p

Maybe what OcUK could do is get one set up on a new server and start a clean slate. All users would move over anyway and once things has settled the URL could be changed so that the whole world could move over.

It's always nice to start new.

it might just need a maintaince day take it off line update php/mysql & do database optimizations or give a reboot :p

Frequent slow-loads and no-loads, normally resolved by waiting a few seconds and refreshing. Pretty annoying, and fairly embarrassing for an organisation like OcUK.

Sometimes the forum wont respond for a few mins but other than that the forum experience is top notch things load instantly for me...Maybe the problem is you and your connection, Have you tried to feed your hamsters lately?

considering how popular the forum is and they are running a business I think people should zip it tbh.

Exactly, and since the forum is the first point of contact with OcUK that many of its customers experience, surely that experience should be the smoothest, most painless experience possible?

I think the forum plays a large part in the popularity of the shop. If it wasn't for the forum I don't think I'd be so loyal to the shop.

Ive noticed it more and more over the past 6 months. Things won't load at all or database errors. It is slighly annoying but we can't complain really, not like we pay for it (well not directly anyway!).

Talkphotography.co.uk have moved over to Xenforo, it's quite nice :)

A colleague and I have brought over several massive boards to XenForo recently, including AV Forums, Student Doctor Network and ForomTB ;) Have several other massive boards in the pipelines aswell.

As helpful, resourceful and fun this place it is really showing it's age.

Some investment would be nice. New doesn't have to mean different, rules on avatars and sigs can stay the same

I guess at some point security may become an issue and they may have no choice.
Until then it will be the usual stone wall treatment

You got a project log to show off your work ?

Re-doing my own website at the moment, soon as its up i'll shoot a link over.

In terms of project logs, not much to show realy, most of it is just data manipulation to ensure everything moves from the old systems to the new ones with the least disruption and ensuring all content is entact, some of my customers like to leave reviews for me here: http://xenforo.com/community/threads/vbulletin-big-board-1m-posts-import-services.55328/ (though these are boards with at least 1 million posts, i've lost track of how many <1M post forums ive imported.)

and here: http://xenforo.com/community/threads/elasticsearch-installation-and-configuration.26216/

Oh, and recently got picked up by LiteSpeedTech: http://www.litespeedtech.com/solutions/case-studies/foromtb-case-study

I get database errors fairly regularly, sometimes pages will also load halfway and then stop, refreshing sometimes fixes it, otherwise I have to wait anywhere between 1-5 minutes for anything to actually happen. This is across multiple devices and other websites and message boards are working as normal.
