Do you like parties?

I sometimes feel the way you do OP. In fact quite often at parties. A lot depends on the company and the environment generally. Sometimes gatherings can be fun if you're at ease with those around you or just in an 'I dont give a **** what you think' kind of mood.

Otherwise awkwardness gets in the way.

If youre not into it, dont do it.

Clearly you want to be into parties though, hence the thread

Im not into running marathons, I doubt i ever ever will run a marathon and i dont care.

@ OP. I bet secretly you want to be an absolute raging party animal :D just do it

If I go to a party I HAVE to drink to loosen up and enjoy it otherwise if I'm sober I get bored and drunk people full of BS REALLY p*** me off! lol

Only two reasons to attend a party or social gathering of a group of people.

1. To drink a lot of alcohol
2. To hook up with someone

Neither interest me.

2. To hook up with someone of the opposite sex

Neither interest me.

Then you can hook up with someone of the same sex if that's what interests you, don't limit yourself.

Also you can:

3. See friends
4. Make new friends
5. Enjoy the activities of the party venue
6. Enjoy food
7. Interact with people rather than pretending to be something you are not on an Internet forum full of strangers

I don't really drink much, and I'm engaged, yet I still enjoy going to parties.

Some people have anxiety issues, and that is fair enough but tips you don't make the effort to break out of it, you'll always have it.

I feel sorry for people who do genuinely suffer, as you're missing out on a lot of good times. I personally couldn't think of anything worse than being stuck indoors for days at a time.

I can do all that without going to a party. Parties are for the drinking crowd mostly unconscious. I would rather be outdoors riding or running, travelling.

Fine, but don't rule that out for other people, as for others it's another route to do all of that, plus going on holidays and doing other things. Also you must be young, as you can go to parties where people aren't paralytic.

Never been to a party when/where/who someone doesnt get on the wrong side of the sauce and im 42 :D otherwise its just a visit.

I always used to go to parties as a teenager, but I never really enjoyed them, in fact I would dread a lot of them. Too many people, too much social pressure, too much forced jollity, too much noise and nowhere to escape to. I got to my early 20s and then I realised that I just didn't like them, and it was OK to not like them.

As a result I haven't been to any large party for years and will avoid most social gatherings. We had an Xmas party at work this year which I also avoided.

So how about people here, are you the "life and soul", are you indifferent or do you generally run from them like the wind?

There's a moral to this story here. The moral goes something like this.

"It doesn't matter who you are if you don't want to do something don't. This means do not let anyone pressure you or question you when things come about. You live your life the way you would like too but be sensible about it - Do NOT judge others because of what they like or what they are into, this is what creates and individual and what makes them happy in their life. Every single human being has faults wether it's small or large and we all indeed have problems of some sort - so do what YOU makes you happy and do not let others tell you otherwise".

/The END

depends on the kind of party are we talking "party" party or a car keys in the bowl and boff the middle aged lady across the road type parties
