Evening all,

Just got a phone call from my parents that their PC has given up the ghost, I'm going to buy them a new PC for around £500.

Only needs the tower as they've still got a monitor available, but the spec does need to include a windows 7 licence as well.

I'm not fussed by either AMD or Intel, 500gb hdd will suffice, and I think that's about it really.

Thanks guys

Intel build.

Not sure they need a video card of this quality perhaps, so you could get a better processor or mobo and cheaper video card instead. Or even a BluRay player if they'd have use for one.

Very much doubt they'd need a GFX card, they do watch YouTube videos some times but it's still low quality.

I've got them a blu ray player, but they use the xbmc set up on the main TV for shows and films.

Even an SSD is overkill for them I'd say, but I'll definitely consider it. I'm looking to order tonight and build next week.

This would be my suggestion. It's an almost exact replica of the PC I built my mum about 6 months ago but updated from an i3-3225 and h77 board to i3-4130 and h87. It makes for a cracking little computer. The 80mm fan is to replace the one built into the case as it's rather noisy and not PWM so would only run at full speed with the board I used.

I've posted a picture of the completed build I did below as well.
