Corsair H70 snuffed it?

Swapped out my motherboard today, and once I got the new one in and turned it on, my Corsair H70 is making a terrible grinding noise. I gather it's had its day now?

If so, any recommendations on a simple closed loop all in one kit or a decent air cooler please?

To me it sounds like the pump is on its way out/gone.

Have you tried RMA'ing it to Corsair or where ever you got it from if it is within a year
thats what I would do personally.

Hmm, it seems strange that it should start making these grinding noises as you put it into a new motherboard; i have no experience with watercooling but is that strange to anyone else? :o

Don't switch it on again. It may be low on coolant. Open it up and have a look. There is a vid on youtube on how to do this.

It's under warranty, why would I want to open it up? I'll get it replaced under RMA (probably for a better model I hope), no biggie, just have to use a loud air cooler till I get it back.

Have you ever used Corsair RMA before? I submitted my first one on Christmas Day for a two week old H100. I paid for express RMA so desperately hoping it comes soon.

Ah. I can't seem to find my standard Intel cooler that came with the CPU so I haven't been able to rage at Battlefield in two days now!

I tried to chase them up today but every time I logged on it said their instant chat was offline despite being within opening hours so I raised another ticket. Unhappy wndsr.

I have an air cooler here spare, borrowed it from a mate. It's pretty loud, but does the job I guess. Just wondering whether it's worth building a small custom loop for my CPU with a single rad.

Why are you even asking then. Send it back!

Asking what? Nowhere did I ask how to take it apart, I asked if it's broken and which cooler to replace it with.

Corsair have come back to me, apparently the H70 only has 2 year warranty, so it looks like I need to fix or replace it.

Ha. So I unplugged the air cooler I have and left the CPU to be cooled passively by the heatsink, and I plugged the Corsair in and after 20 seconds no more noise. :)
