Nasty nasty warranty sticker

So my plans are currently being foiled by these two tiny XFX warranty stickers that are preventing me from removing a r9 290 core backplate.

They are the most fragile things imaginable, currently I am applying heat to the card and trying to peel the things off; but I have already made a tiny tear (not the full way across).

I am getting tempted to just say to hell with it, rip them off, and in the future printing out two tiny duplicate stickers if the card every goes back.

Anyone got any tricks or suggestions before I resort to plan B :( ?

Yeah, if replacing coolers, don't go xfx, but ask people here which brands allow you to remove cooler :)

Sorry, not helpful, unless you can return under dsr still, and go with better brand?

Hairdryer for 10-15 seconds then a sharp scalpel to lift it off. These warranty stickers are extremely delicate though, like very thin eggshell and one wrong move they break up easily.

Currently they are under the full heat of a portable heater. The card is pretty damn hot, but the stickers get sheared apart with the slightest pressure. Isopropyl alcohol worth a shot?

No, they will need direct heat applied to soften the adhesive. Like I said they are very delicate.

Isopropyl alcohol and more heat did the trick. The edges are a little mangled but I think they are passable.

Aye tis true tis true :(

This card is a joke btw. Worst thermal paste application I have ever seen. Two/three of the thermal pads have sheared in half. No wonder it runs so hot.

An xfx warranty isn't worth anything anyhow, if it were to die you'd be as well tossing it in the bin.

Remove the stickers or return them and buy msi/his/sapphire/gigabyte/vtx

XFX can tell if you have tampered with screws anyway as they usually use painted ones that a screwdriver would scratch.

Just rip em off replace the cooler and forget about the warranty.

Damn I knew XFX were not great, but this bad? o.O Since when? So far I have spent about 5 hours attaching this universal block and heatsinks. I don't know if I will ever watercool a gpu again tbh.

Bad enough for OcUK to completely drop all of their products, its not just every day customers who get their terrible RMA support, also retailers.

Seemingly they were rejecting RMA's on blatantly faulty cards, as a result the retailer was/is having to foot the entire cost of replacement.

Thanks for the feedback anyway, I hope I will not regret my choice too much in the future, the reason I went XFX was for a chance of unlocking the shaders.

Heatsinks will cure overnight, hopefully everything will work when I connect it up to the loop tomorrow. The card is intolerable on air; that's for sure.

i removed the small sticker off my r9 290 (it was from asus)when removing backplate, does that mean i got no warranty?

Removing warranty stickers/seals and than reattaching them after tampering with the product before returning to the manufacturer is fraud, I'm surprised that the moderators of this forum allow this practise to be promoted.

Yes it is but I've not seen anyone "promoting" this, only asking about it.

As others have said though, the words "XFX" & "warranty" are usually only used together in a negative way!
