OCUK forum speed/responsiveness

I get database errors frequently especially at 9am for example.

For me I think OCuk need to spend some money/time on these forums. Its using horribly out of date software which has been pointed out. As comes with this is the amount of security holes, must be a fare few about.

After all OCuk's main site gets remodels and updates. Be nice to see the forums get it once and awhile.

It's been humped for the better part of a year now yet nothing seems to have been done about it from what I can see.

I have not noticed any issues, other than that outage last week for about an hour and I am pretty much always on ocuk forums.

Also VB3 and this clean layout is kind of OcUK's 'thing' now, and a good thing it is.

I agree! File size especially, 56k days are long gone now. Anyone on limited data has the option to turn off sigs as well.
 
^ signatures are quite large enough thanks all the same, sigs are only of any interest to the owner most people just scroll past them without bothering to read any of it I imagine, or at least I do. Personally I hate forums where you have to scroll past reams of garbage just to get to the text you want to read, and signature turn-off requires you to be actually logged in.

But yes the forum is slow today, no-one around to perform maintenance I imagine. Plus there is the whole budget issue, forum are essentially there to support the store, it doesn't finance itself aside from any adverts that aren't blocked by savvy posters, (and lets face it this is a pretty tech savvy place.)

They'll all be having a good old giggle in the mods room, wondering how long they can ignore us for before we get bored and stop moaning about it ;).
 
Forum chugs a bit sometimes and more recently. Sometimes I click on next page and it sticks. But if you upgrade don't change the look. Keep it clean, and uncluttered with no massive signatures which are of no interest to me and just mean less pertinent information per page.
 
yup, the only thing i want is a PM system, use trust for MM, PM's for forum stuff, many a time i just want to pop someone a quick PM, then hit the "sorry trust has not been enabled for this user" -.-
