Basically, family asked me to find a tablet for our grand-parents who kinda live in the cave (not literally,mentally) without PC/Laptop or even Internet... Gramps expressed that they want to take part in this "internet" age...

So I have an opportunity to buy Ipad 4 16gb + cellular (4g) for 260 odd quid completely brand new and sealed in a box...

Thing that bothers me is that I dont know whether 16gb will be enough for their usage? As I understand they will probably make use of the "retina" display and read books on it... I have no idea how much books weigh on ipads...

So the question really is, will 16 gb be enough for grand-parents??

thats cheap can you share where that is from or is it a one off?

I would have thought 16gb would be fine, I assume they are not going to have a ton of music and you'll only need a couple of books at a time on there

Books are only a few mb each. You won't fill it with them. Most games are <100 Mb unless you like the console type games which can be a gig or so. Realistically if they don't have loads of HD videos or music to add, 16Gb is fine.

Be careful with the iPad4 4G though, as unlike the Air / Retina Mini it wasn't worldwide compatible so being a USA model might not have the same bands as any of the UK operators, certainly it won't have o2 / Vodafone spectrum as that only got added with the latest models.

It is the sprint version and thats what i found on its support;

Specifically, both support 4G LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 13, and 25, as well as CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) and UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz).

will this work fine in europe?

For 3G it will work on any UK network.

Band 3 is the only 4G one that will work here and that's only with Three and EE.

Assuming it isn't carrier locked to Sprint.
