why do people drive around with their fog lights on all the time? (terribly irritating lights I call them) it seems to me more and more people are doing this and it drives me mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking of buying a little hammer and taking a few out!

Why just why?

Please fully star out all swearing in future. Thank you.

Three reasons:

Because they're idiots who think that fog lights are useful in anything except fog

Because they're idiots who think their car looks proper bad boy with the front fogs on

Because they left them on after it was foggy or switched them on by accident (rare)

If only we had a subforum for endlessly debating the same motoring issues, like what tyres to buy, why everybody should buy a bloody Ford Focus and what tyres to buy.

Many modern car models use multifunction lamps or even light clusters where dedicated fog lights used to be. In VAG cars for example, including my Octavia, at full power they serve as fog lamps, at lower power they are DLRs (factory coding allows for two combinations - with or without rear clusters on, scandinavian/continental mode) and at low speed and about 70% power they are used as cornering lamps. I think Renault employs similar setup.

There is no requirement for DLRs to be LED only, so you will see more and more cars driving with what you perceive to be "fog lights" and in reality are

I can tell what's a fog light and what's not been driving for over 20 years lol

6am driving to work, pitch black, trees, branches and water everywhere so I stick my front fogs on to give me a slight advantage but still bell end plastic pretend police men flash me and gesticulate like they own the roads whilst simultaneously driving into a tree.

Get a life.

I can't recall the last threat where the topic of a Ford Focus was so passionately debated, perhaps we need one.

It's six points waiting to happen and give you no advantage even if you turned into Sebastian Vettel overnight. Please switch them off and don't make anyone bring the maths into it :(

My fog lights do absolute zero at making me see safer ahead in adverse conditions. The HIDs do all the work. They won't even help me be seen any better to others either because hey, again the HIDs pierce through the conditions.

rather they weren't there really and reclaim some air duct space.

Such a shame, I found mine really useful in the recent conditions. I don't have them on any other time apart from errrrrr fog however people seem to be preoccupied with flashing others when to be fair has zero impact on their own life.

Sad

I appreciate flashing badly adjusted or incorrect lights.

So there's fog now?
