fog lights all the time?

Whilst fog lights are annoying, I find the real problem is the amount of people that deem it perfectly acceptable to drive with only their side lights on in dim or rainy conditions.

What is the point of side lights anyway? I have never encountered a situation where side lights were a better idea than dipped beams.

I do find the new fashion of these DRL's and turning lamps a bit pointless. You'll often see these 'foglamps' on when the cars are turning, looks like they have one lamp out.

I really don't see why people get so enraged at this. OK on some cars they can be a bright bright and glaring but usually not enough to bother me. If you stare into any headlights long enough you're going to dazzle yourself. There are far bigger motoring issues IMHO, i.e. someone leaving their high beams on.

In my opinion front fogs are useless anyway.

I do see a use for them as someone above has said - lanes at night with lots of puddles and debris on them - front fog lamps are good for providing extra low-level light in this case. Out on clear roads, less so.

I'm not sure I agree; my headlamps light up a lot of the road, near and far - if the fog lights help illuminate an obstacle 1 metre in front of you better, then great, but it's probably too late at that point. :p

Oh no, someone has lights on that in no way effect you, but lets have a moan anyway. It's the British way.

This.

Moaning about some moron who doesn't turn his full beams off OR turns them off and then puts em back on before he is even remotely past the point where they will still dazzle you. That would be less retarded.

I have no idea why but I'm so bad for this, like my brain is trying to kill or blind me. "Oh that persons HID's behind me are bright, better stare at them in the mirror for a few seconds so I'm seeing eye-floaters for the next minute". :(

The rear fog light annoys me more. In traffic, in town, or if the car behind has caught up with and can clearly see you, then you don't need that big bright eye-level red light on still!

I thought it was around 100 feet or less visibility for use of fog lights, altho im certain the police can pull you for having them turned on when its not foggy they're just never around when you need them lol.

and at low speed and about 70% power they are used as cornering lamps. I think Renault employs similar setup.

I've seen quite a few of these lately, at first when I saw them come round the corner I thought "great, some moron has left their fogs on one has busted" then as they straightened out it went off and I realised it's a cornering / assistance lamp which is actually really clever and quite sensible.

Renault foggers do indeed come on when cornering. It can be frustrating at times however as if the driver infront catches the light in his mirror they sometimes think you flashed at them..

eBarry 2000000k HIDs in reflector lenses irritate me far more than people who feel it necessary to use their fog lights in clear conditions.

6am driving to work, pitch black, trees, branches and water everywhere so I stick my front fogs on to give me a slight advantage but still bell end plastic pretend police men flash me and gesticulate like they own the roads whilst simultaneously driving into a tree.

Get a life.

So you're driving too fast for the conditions and use foglights to try and compensate?

In 17 years of driving I've needed front foglights twice (i.e. fog so thick I had to turn dipped beam off because it was reflecting back at me).

I think foglights look badass but wonder if they have a sidelight/ dim mode instead of just full whack? I wouldn't have them on if they didn't have a dimmed / dipped / daytime mode...

They have their uses. Driving down a muddy country lane in the dark and rain it can be difficult to see where the edge of the road is when the verge is eroded. Fogs can give you that bit better peripheral vision. Rabbits claimed both of my front fogs though :/

In my car I sit very low to the ground compared to many cars. On a wet road the fog light bounces perfectly off the road and right into my eyes as they're designed to do. This is an annoyance because there's no reason why they should be on.

I've got a grievance with ****wittery, it's nothing new.
