May have just bagged a bargain

Do it man! - Then we can all send a co-ordinated scathing email back to 'andrew' telling him he is a LIAR LIAR and his bottom is on fire :)

really?

It was a chance it situation cos there's no way that any company would honour a price drop of nearly 2k on an item like that. Now you want to have a go at them. ffs

I think the point is it's naughty to lie, if they'd just said sorry we messed the price up so we can't honor it then no one would care.

Yeah agreed, I would have more respect for a retailer that can tell the truth than one that lies. This was obviously a long shot so I also recommend moving on and not making a big deal out of it! :)

damn you straight thinkers - leave us chancers to it! :p

Who said we shouldn't have put this on HUKD? - They would have ground that business to a halt with bad rep if we'd have put it on there - oh wait a min...... :)

I'm not convinced that any retailer should care what the predatory entitled masses that pounce on obvious pricing errors such as those who inhabit HUKD think about them.

Likewise the majority of people would write off a complaint based on "they didn't honour the price they set in error, I am perfect obviously so I wouldn't ever make a mistake" so I doubt it would tarnish a retailer that badly.

Err, i saw this before reading here and obv it was an error - as you said it was an open box Yamaha, they dont have those in stock on the Yamaha site or on ex av either.....

Well their website should have reflected this because when I placed my order there were still four available (the website reflected stock levels).

and before you all get on your high horses - This is about principle - we would all have accepted the fact it was an error if admitted and dropped it - but rather than admit the truth they lied about stock levels because no-one here (even the OP) has got an email admitting it was a genuine mistake, but got lies instead.

According to the sales trade act - a seller has 24 hours to admit a mistake in pricing and or any other (i.e. specs) and to inform the buyers of their mistake. No admission of mistake here, just a lie.

So you know for sure that their website was an accurate reflection of stock levels?

Well they could have screwed that up as well as the original price I guess!

What's so hard in admitting it was a genuine mistake though? - be that stock levels or pricing.....

aaaah, don't you love it , when a mispriced product that's is not honoured, allegedly because of no stock, suddenly reappears on the website at full price and in good quantity?

I don't get why is it so hard to admit the error and tell the truth.

if they can lie about simple thing like this, what else will they lie about?

retailer that does this (happened 2-3 times) doesn't exist for me anymore.

From how it's been described here it was an open box item though.

Yes it would have been nice if they'd said "whoops, that was the wrong price" but anyone buying a receiver knows that they aren't £1 and so the wrongs even out in this case.

Just put it in the basket!!!!

Yeah we know theres nowt much we can do now bud. We've named and shamed them, that's enough. :)

I've had dealings with AV exceptional before and they were being dodgy about the HTS-101 speakers I wanted from them - one minute they were competing with everyone else (price wise), the next they upped their price by £50. This fiasco however just goes to show how shady a company they are and people should be cautious when dealing with them. Lack of honesty is not a good business ethic.
