So I have just sorted out the RMA for my black screening VTX R9 290 and i dont want to give up on these cards as of yet. Any advice on what make I should go for next ?

If anyone has a R9 290(x) could you post the make of the card and if they have ever suffered a black screen issue that would be much appreciated (Also if the ram type is know what ram you have)

I know its a lottery on what RAM chips you get on these but im hoping for Hyinx this time around ;)
 
I have the same card as you with Elpdia memory - only got black screens web surfing and watching videos. I've set a custom fan profile to keep the card below 70c in 2d and 90c in 3d and I get no black screens or any problems.

Haha i hope not, as I cant go a week without this PC for work and Android dev I have ordered an MSI BF4 edition :) Hope this one works fine

I have requested an refund on the RMA one :)

What vendor where your 290's ? and was it black screen on stock clocks or OC ?
 
Hi, I just thought I'd add my two cents, I recently bought an MSI R290 from overclockers at £329.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-243-MS

So far I've played various games from MMORPG's to FPS's and not suffered any black screens or any graphic glitches as of yet, It's still early days but I've given this card some leg and it's not throwing anything back in my face yet.

The only problem I had was changing BIOS's to the R290x Asus and it didn't like it, however I reverted it back and it's up and running perfectly fine again.

Sapphier 290x here. Elpdia memory but absolutely no problems. Ran fine on stock cooler and water. To get it to black screen, i need to push memory past 1550 but then again, i dont play BF4 which seems to be where most people suffer.
