On its way to me are a nice new i7 4770k, a Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H and a Samsung EVO 120GB SSD. I have a keyboard, mouse and a spare WD Green hard drive but I need everything else (including monitor). Ideally I'd like to finish it off for around £600 but I am somewhat flexible on this.

Suggestions appreciated! I definitely intend to overclock.

Cheers,
Sam

+1 for Idles spec, has all the bits you will need in the price range you want, only thing i would say is Haswell i7 is a hot chip, CM Hyer 212 is a great cooler but you will really want a h100 or a high end air cooler on that to really tame it, something like a Phantek or Noctua type cooler, or the K2 Mount doom

The Phanteks PH-TC14CS, Prolimatech Red Megahalems and Noctua D14 will fit in the case. But the K2 and the Phanteks PH-TC14PE and most others wont. It might even fit a 240mm AIO.
I specced the 212 evo to fit the case as well as the OP`s budget. But if he can stretch his budget I would go for the D14 or the Megahalems.

The megahalems will take it way over budget though once you add the price of the fans to it, even though it is the nicest looking cooler of the lot.

Thanks guys - I like the spec. Would the case be okay with the H100 radiator if I upped my budget for an AIO watercooler or would the extra money be better spent elsewhere on the spec (e.g. better air cooler, different case, R9 290)?

The cheapest 290 will cost another £50+, so you could spend that on a slightly better case and cooler.
Or, if you are likely to want to xfire in the future, a bigger Psu would be needed.
It depends on how much more you want to spend.
There does`nt look to be enough room up top for the H100 and fans, to close to the the top of the mobo.

The H100i will fit in the 200R, although you might have to do a bit of DIY drilling :D

The MSI R9 280X at £229.99 today only should give me a little more wriggle room in the budget.

Would a high quality 750W PSU be okay for crossfire of two 280X cards in the future?

Just pulled the trigger on Idleman's suggestion subbing the Gigabyte with the MSI 280X on offer today and spending the difference on the Noctua D14. £573.94 with free shipping so nicely under budget. Cheers guys!

All set up and running Prime95 at 4.4 GHz with VCore at 1.24V.

I had a slightly scary moment the first time I booted up and got idle CPU temps of over 70 degrees C! After reseating the Noctua they were down to less than 30 degrees C. I love the D14 by the way. It truly is an absolute monster!

Thanks again for the advice chaps.
