Would you leave an oven unattended ?

The only things left plugged over night are the fridge and Sky box. Everything else is unplugged.

What you need is a bed time routine, or am I showing my age.

I would spend 30 mins every night just unplugging crap and that's just tech.

What kind of loon leaves a light on for cats :o

I leave my computers, server, NAS on 24x7 and the washing machine, dryer when needed.

Only time things get unplugged at my house is when there's a thunder storm. I had the unfortunate experience of replacing the majority of sensative electronics a few years ago :( damn lightning.

I remember when we were little, if there was a storm mum would unplug the TV areal and make us all sit on the stairs. They ran up the middle of the house.

Now I lean out the window, love em

I thought cats had good eye sight ?

It's just me feeing bad about them sitting in a dark house.

Why not leave a ceiling light on for them instead. Most lamps could be very easily knocked over by a cat.

The overhead lights are 4 on at the same time (only one switch) whereas the lamp is an energy saving lightbulb. I'm basically stingy about electric, and try and use as little as possible. :D

Everything at home has power 24/7 is left on standby or sat doing nothing. Oven gets used a lot here and its often left on when were out as is the washer and slow cooker etc. Hobs won't be though as there gas. Ovens electric

Slow cooker ftw.

Turn on. Go to work. Come home to stew. Mmmmmmmmm

Even more likely to develop a fault because most people have cheap Chinese slow cookers where every penny is saved. Ovens in general are made to a far high quality.

Done it often tbh not something i worry about i would take some comfort in knowing no one was at home if something terrible was to happen

That's not in my agreement

If that were true they could argue that unless it was switched off at the wall then it is powered on. They'd invalidate so many claims.

Arrgh slow cooking :D I neglected that approach. By far the best way to do it. I have yet to find anything that doesn't taste better slow cooked

Its in mine and I worked with a woman whose dishwasher caught fire and the insurance company attempted to trick her into saying she was not in the house and the appliance was therefore unattended.

I am not sure what they think the average person could do with a flaming dishwasher other than run outside and call the fire brigade. They go up so quick that its unlikely you could put it out before it did major damage anyway.

Christ that really is a get out clause there :(

Well the average person would probably try throwing water on it :D good thing she was on the ball ey.

Cooker has always been a bit hmm, paranoia I guess but if something were to happen.

Slow cookers usually get left on
