I enjoy later with Jools and so naturally Hootenanny for the music but for me it's just a little tarnished knowing that it's pre recorded. Hearing Jools count down the time and it's not even a midnight for him not alone new years eve just makes it hard for me to really enjoy and celebrate the new year while watching Hootenanny. Anyone else feel like this?

Didn't know this and now that I do, I don't think it will have any negative impact on my life or enjoyment of the hootenanny on the rare occasions I watch it.

I think this is attaching too much import to an arbitrary point in time.
Nothing has actually changed in anybody's life.

It's never spoilt New years Eve. The clock still chimes at midnight, the music is good, we all have a party and nothing is tarnished.....

Diverting the topic:
Why does superman need a job anyway?

In fact why do any of these superheroes go to work all the time, they surely don't need to?

How else would they earn money to live and sustain themselves? Exceptions for iron man and batman obviously. Surely getting paid to be superheroes would be against the code and who exactly would pay them?

The guy just grates on me, so I never watch anything with him in, but that does seem kind of lame.

When I was younger I'd always assumed it was live, but then when I was properly at home one year and had it on in its entirety I discovered the truth.

It is a bit rubbish to think its prerecorded but I respect that its difficult to do live to get all the guests they want and keep a live show running perfectly.

I did hear though that one year they had the countdown start at the wrong time, which is pretty shameful.

Saw it last year I think with Roger Daltrey on, and Cee-lo Green.

Why would any multi millionaire musician want to spend his New Years Eve in a BBC Studio? :)

It was the worst Hootenanny i have ever watched last night, the only decent act on was Haim and that was a zeplin cover (so technically still ****).

That's the whole point of the thread Shirley.

They didn't, because they were probably off on BBC1 sniffing Gary Barlow.

That was the point I was making, I didnt make it clear I apologise :)

There is no way these people would spend such an important night filming some average music show on BBC.
