hey guys, im currently using a corsair USB headset and im not very happy with it
it gets the job in gaming but i listen to a lot of music even when gaming im most likely running itunes in the background and the headset just doesnt handle it very well at all

so im in the market for a new set of cans but i dont know whether i should go with another headset or get some headphones... audio is very important to me

i dont have a sound card at the moment im using on board audio, i have an MSI GD65 z87 gaming motherboard wich as far as onboard audio goes its pretty good and thats what ill be using atleast for a while

so down to what im actualy looking for, i want the best of the best while also keeping things kind of simple
i want analogue headset/headphones (USB just doesnt get the job done in my opinion)
i want a set of cans that will run well off the onboard audio (dont want to have to have a seperate amp to drive them)
and i dont want surround sound just straight up stereo
i prefer closed back cans

as i said earlier ill be using them for gaming but mostly music, i like bass but not the kind of bass that just crushes everything else
the music i listen to is mostly rock/metal and some more electro bass heavy stuff aswell

as i said earlier wether its a headset or headphones i want the best i can get that fits in with my needs and im willing to spend up to £250

so far i have looked at the razer electro wich seems good for more of a budget option
and the sennheiser 380 pro's wich according to reviews atleast dont really seem like they are worth the price for me

Found my pc350's to be perfect for the job in hand epsecially listening to music given that they are gaming headphones.

Will be 99% likely to buy the pc 350's again should these ever let me down (they are from 2011 as is and have taken quite a beating.

just checked those out, they look pretty good but its a headset isnt it supposed to be better to have propper headphones?

For rock you could look at the Grado range but it won't have a lot of bass, also open back and on ear, so comfort may not be the best.
But are really good for rock music.
Could head over to head-fi or headphonia to check out some reviews of heaphones.

i used to have a set on on ear headphone and they didnt last a month before i got rid of them wearing them was painfull after more than 20 minutes

right now im looking at the shure SRH840's and these seem to be the most convincing at the moment, the only problem they have that telephone wire sort of cable and i really hate that so its kind of putting me off buying them

In the same boat really, got my eye on either the Beyerdynamic DT770's or the DT880 with the addition of a antlion modmic. Just have yet to pull the trigger on getting them.

Not a great deal of stores around that I know of in which I could walk in and try them out before landing the money on them. And not up for the hassle with using the Distance Selling regs with the forest.

beyerdynamic is supposed to be good never used any though, only ever used sennheisers but it was a low end model had a quick look at the DT770 and it is closed back so ill have to look into those

this might be a dumb question but what is a antlion modmic?

http://www.modmic.com/ I bought one and it is good but, there are cheaper alternative desk top mics that will do the job.

Maybe depends on preference I find the mic on the headset more usefull than a separate one and it's less wires on my desk.

The noise cancellation makes them pretty good. they are also very comfy. The mic is also superb nice long wire too.

I can not dispute that spending £100 on a decent separate headphone will work well because we all know it will. I think it's just down to preference as stated.

well thanks for all of you're input guys
i have decided im going to get the audio-technica ATH-M50 simply because i know audio technica make good stuff and everything i had read/watched about the ATH-M50 says they are basicly the best thing ever lol
