ok I`ve now had a chance to open pc case and this is full spec

Asus P8Z68-V LE
8GB RAM DDR3
Radeon HD 7950
Intel i5 CPU
585w PSU
1TB Barracuda HDD

585w psu made by who?? i would be changing it and getting a decent one if it was me...
as i said your system is fine just buy a samsung evo ssd (size up to you) and a better gfx ie. 290 custom cooler when oc get them in stock! something like this

there is no point in going for the 280x as it is only SLIGHTLY better than the 7950

with the components i listed, yes you will see a big improvement!
and get the 2400mhz team group memory i listed aswel, as your ram is pretty slow and change the XMP profile in the bios to the 2200mhz speed as your motherboard wont be able to run it at 2400mhz

Is that Psu the Gigabyte ODIN or HEC ORION, if either one, I would look at replacing it.

what size ssd would you suggest and would you add o/s to ssd
also what ram would you suggest

the power supply you have now is rubbish so i would change it as others have said...so yes i would get that 650w superflower, you wont get anything better for the price
and dont forget to change the XMP profile in the bios to change the ram speed to 2200mhz
