4770k v 8350

I went with Intel after years with AMD and would still take that option today. However I will reevaluate in 2015 when we should have some new chips and have a better idea if Mantle is as good as it sounds.

Which is more future proof for gaming?

Spending around £1300 on a rig, but I want it to be usable in 5+ years.

Was leaning towards AMD due to eight cores now in next gen consoles.

Would appreciate any pointers :)

If you look for 5+ years system to buy "NOW", then you should consider a 4930K not a 4770K.

Because when games come out to use all the FX cores, they will use the 6 cores of the 4930K also. Which are more powerful to boot.

Just a thought.

4770k....

Why limit yourself to a CPU that can only keep up with the i7 in highly threaded apps when you can buy the 4770k and get a CPU that performs amazing in every game and no matter how many cores it uses

well I finally bit the bullet and upgrade my system from cq2 9550 @ 3.5 to a i7 4770k @ 4.5 with 8GB of ram @2500 on z87x-oc force, i bought the lot in the black Friday sale's so I manage to buy my part at good price. if I had the extra cash I would have gone to the x79 route instead of the x87 as forth quarter of this year Haswell-E is being released with the x99 chipset with cpu supporting drr3 & drr4 while retaining the lga2011 socket meaning those with x79 boards maybe able to upgrade to haswell-e via a bio's update.

All the info on googled sites says Haswell-E will use 2011-3 and will not be compatible with regular 2011.
