Am i eligable for Jobseekers

if you do get to claim be ready as you have to login to a site that logs all jobs you looked at and have applied to. You have to apply for at least 20 jobs a day and have to wait at least 4 weeks before payment.

I was on JSA last summer, that doesn't sound right at all, I think my target was something like 10 a week (maybe less, I dont remember) and you can do it all offline if you want. Got paid pretty much instantly too.

Sister recently came off jsa she only had to look for 10 every two weeks.

If the above is true then that's a good system bar the 4 week wait.

They don't check the books anyway when I was on jsa in 2009 I wrote porn star and various other things each week and they still stamped it :D

its a new thing now for new sign ups, my moms bf lost his job just before x-mas and signed up and had it all on paper 20 jobs for the first few weeks.

Thing is he even told them he knows nothing about using the internet so how could he do that.

Hopefully that will get a few lazy people off benifits doing the online thing. Just hope its not too definitive as we all know how dodgy comps can be.

Well from what i have seen this system has got some off there butts but also has downfalls like they are moving the job searches for online only than doing it on the offices.

I have seen news where familes have been struck off due to not doing searches but say they have.

I still think the whole job center is a massive waste of money. They're not interested in helping nor do they seem to care if you actually do it.

Online version would be great but would be better run by a private company. One vested in sorting the scum from the genuinely hard up people.

Kinda off topic sorry unicorn. Sincerely hope you find work soon I know how depressing it can be.

I went on Jobseekers once when I was out of work a few years ago. I was only on it 3 months but it took a month from my first appointment at the Job Centre to actually getting my first payment.

God knows how anyone would manage if they literally had no money at all and had to wait that long to be paid.

You have to apply for at least 20 jobs a day and have to wait at least 4 weeks before payment.

You do not have to apply for 20 jobs a day, you have to take 20 "steps" per week to find work, those steps can be speculative letters to potential employers, they can be buying the local paper that carries job adverts, they can be logging onto the ukgov jobsite, or any other recruitment site ( indeed.com etc ).

even if you sign on.. it won't be much and it'll take ages :) by the time you've got a part time job you'll end up getting 20quid/month lol! :) I was on it for 3 months before I ditched the whole thing as its just too depressing going there with scum that haven't worked for years.. they won't even bother helping you either :)

just crack on with part time job and don't bother with it - trust me much easier and you'll get the same amount in no time.

Don't you own a Bentley now? Respect.

Read my post again please before making a reply.

on your first few weeks you "have" to apply for at least 20 jobs a week.

I should know I read the letter my mom bf had with him stating this same thing.

There has been too many lazy ones liying about looking for a job so they are now forcing you and moving jobs from paper, ect to online only.

Well i hate to break it to you but ive just signed on for the first time in 20+ years, & as all this is rather new to me my "advisor" explained to me exactly what i have to do, now, if i can find muy scanner i will scan in & post the form your supposed to fill in detailing your weekly job search activities, because it most definatley is "steps", not jobs.

Scan it im not trying to make a deal out of it for all i know it could be depending on areas but it stats at least 20 jobs a week for the first few weeks and while my moms bf and soon to be wife doing this i will stand by this.

its strange how unless one can try to flam a thread don't get replied too.:o

I hear they are getting allot stricter on people on the dole, it used to be so easy, stroll in and say you'd looked at the paper for jobs :D

That can't be right, i never got asked to do that many when i was out of work for a bit.

Jobcentre staff= idiots.

They changed the job application system last year some time and even before then the amount you had to apply for just seemed to be a number plucked out of thin air by whoever you happened to talk to that week.
