A thought just come to me,

Would you like to be able to increase your Pin Number size to 6-8 numbers?
it would make it slightly more secure in one way, Giving options to the people that use them.

if the user could choose 4/6/8 number pins, it would make it harder to guess or try to watch/capture pin numbers entry?

whats your thoughts?

would you like to have longer pin?

I don't think it would really add more security. You only get three attemps to enter the pin correctly and your unlikely to randomly guess it even with just a 4 digit combination in 3 guesses.

No point. A physical card with 3 attempts and 0.01% of getting it right seems good enough. The problems from people forgetting the number would be more prevalent and will just make more work for the services to fix locked out cards.

It wouldnt really take that long to attempt all the possible combination with 4 digits, thats if you arent limited to three tries.

I dont think the banks really care about security though, we have the nfc cards which dont require anything at all and are easily hacked.

2, 4 or even 10 more numbers isnt really going to make them more secure. We need fingerprints, or some other non easily forged identifier.

Major problem with that is if the criminals who already skim atms can work out how to skim the biometrics then your stuffed for life. Cant change your biometrics.

Longer number would defeat the purpose tbh

Also, longer time spent bashing said number in = more time for people to see ;)

By that logic, quicker time spent bashing said number in = easier for someone to quickly glance and accidentally/purposely see your pin?

No :P

Eh?

Which do you think you'd be able to remember the easiest?

A) a 3 character string you see for 3 seconds?
B) a 100 character string you see for 100 seconds?

Ahh PIN number.

That's like back on Windows 2000, where the splash screen said built on NT technology, which expanded out, just means built on new technology technology :-)

Also that statement on the splash screen is a tautology because it is saying "Built on New Technology Technology", which is fitting because one of the most over-used other tautologies is people who say "PIN number" (Personal Identification Number number)

Isn't that what he just said? :p
