A travesty of design

Can you see any XFX card for sale on OCUK? No? Ever wondered why that is?

That is one nasty looking card.

As long as it works properly I couldn't give a monkeys! I dont normally look at my GFX card in a daily basis. That said if the cooling system is identical, I'd go for an OEM as it should be cheaper.

Is it an actual bronze/gold sort of colour (which might go well with the heatsinks on my motherboard) or is it a kind of flat yellow enamel, like you used to get on old cookers?

The HIS IceQ x2 coolers do seem to have the edge on performance. Looking at the 280x and 7970 versions, they are very cool and quiet, without going to the specialist overclocked versions with custom PCBs at a higher price. They consistently rate better than most of their competitors when you check the temp and noise comparison charts.

So while this may be an ugly product that could have been made much nicer by a change of colours (or even just going to the old black shroud), if the performance and price is good, it will still be tempting for those of us without windows in our cases. I'll always take function over form for something like this, but it's a shame that HIS could have had both with a few small changes.
