Having very little joy with my Protank 3 - it arrived and I spent a morning with it on my SVD, all seemed good although it was 'popping' a bit, loudly but not enough to spit juice.
Then the next day, things got progressively worse until it started leaking on to the pin on my SVD.

I bought a pack of 5 replacement heads, and thought I'd give them a go just in case it was a duff head or two shipped with the Protank 3. Nope, no such luck. Going to let the last heads burn out too and then go back to using the regular Protank 1 heads.

Rewick with cotton, it expands so much when soaked that it rarely leaks in those types of head. You can just pull the silica out, rinse the juice off, dry then shove the cotton in ;)

I got my mini protank 2 (starter kit from myepack - £19.99 on offer), seems a nice bit of kit. As a newb I went through a few Juices, found that the Dekang PVF Autumn is excellent tasting stuff. Been chuffing away on that no problems and not touched a stinky since :).

I got a Kanger Evod 1000mah VV through in the post today - its just burning everything even on the lowest voltage of 3.2V. Put the 650mah that came in the starter kit back on and we are back to a nice vape.

I have no idea why this would be - have I got the wrong battery here or could the evod VV be b0rked? What is the voltage of the 650mah battery that came in the pack?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Nominal battery voltage is 3.7v, a fully charged battery can be up to 4.2v. If your VV really is putting out 3.2v (do you have a multimeter?) IDK

Right just built a ss mesh and ekowool coil in the kraken clone, it's pretty damn good after a while messing about burning it in the taste is brilliant however I don't believe it is wicking enough juice and with a 1.3 ohm coil at about 8/9 watts I'm not getting as much vapour as I would expect.

Crank the watts up (0.5 increments) until it tastes slightly burnt and then dial it down a watt. That's the brilliance of VV/VW devices - you can completely change a vape by adding more or lowering the power.

As for those asking where I go to get stuff drilled (I don't have a Man Shed yet), I go to my local, family-owned hardware/fastenings store. Pretty much anywhere that sells hardware or cuts keys will have a pillar drill. My friend charges a flat rate £5 workshop fee, which for increasing a hole from 0.8mm to 1.2mm sounds dear, but when he breaks 5 tungsten drillbits on the thick SS of my atties (at £11 a go!) it's certainly cheaper than doing it myself...
Ask about - it doesn't need to be a precision engineering firm...

Haha! well now I'm completely whacked out on nicotine testing between the kit EVOD and the VV EVOD. Yum yum - that autumn is gooooood but the VV is still burning it - even put a new head in to make sure it wasn't something something something... erm.. Its hard beeing a newb Vaper... :(

We all started at the same place buddy, no one makes the switch straight into Mech Mods and sub-ohm QuadCoil drippers...

There's a wealth of info, tutorials and good experienced people to help problem solve on UKVapers forum, get over and see what they suggest.

Happy Vaping

Came back to vaping recently after trying unsuccessfully last year - Have spent a fortune on various batteries, cartomizers, skycigs, SD kits, tanks, CE's, low ohm heads, high ohm heads, dripping atties etc etc and tried many truly horrible eliquids along the way.....End result it all ended in a big box and returning to my 20 a day L&B.

Getting closer this time though, my biggest breakthrough being *finally* discovering an eliquid that is *close* to a real ciggy! Or as close as I am likely to get anyway. Fair play to those who enjoy the sweet flavours but it's not for me. I never wanted to smoke a toffee apple and I really want to replicate as closely as possible my normal analogues.

So I am currently using with moderate success:

itaste V3 @ 8W
306 LR Dipping atty for use at home
Kanger mini protank 2 & evods with 1.8ohm heads for out and about (Draw is airy though)
Plastic drip tip as do not like the supplied metal tip
Triphammer Standard T&H 18mg - Closest I have found to a normal cigarette by a looooong way (Ordered some 24mg now to give a bit more throat hit)
HOL El Toro Cigarrillos (Not 100% on this yet as can taste the PG base? Leaving for a few days to steep)

Still duel fuelling but not beating myself up yet - It is a journey not a race.

Delighted though to have found the triphammer liquid - Tried the T&H Gold first time round and it was vile, far too sweet. The standard however really is very close to the real thing.

Nirk, are you giving up Vaping mate?
I'd be interested in the ohm meter and wire if you don't mind splitting?

It is annoying because I bought a load of equipment, spent loads of money etc. Found out how to DIY, recoil my own etc. I cannot seem to tolerate vaping, I have no idea why. I guess I will sell what I bought and use the gums, maybe just try and quit nicotine.

What's a good starter kit that isn't overly expensive and can be used a lot? Also what's a nice E-liquid that tastes like real cigs/tobacco. I smoke roll ups at the moment.

Would like to start vaping as my lungs are a mess.

Cheers for the response, I think my issue is to do with the fact that the coil isn't uniformly touching the wick and develops various hot spots and thus I need to correct this before getting it totally right.

It is quite difficult to get it right, too tight and it will taste of silica / cotton because it strangles the wick and too loose it will not work either, if you use cotton or ekowool then make it so it is very loosely touching the coil then when it gets wet it should expand and work alright.
