Antec HCG 620 vs Antec HCG 620M. Is there any (substantial) difference?

Hello All,

Happy New Year!

I have not posted for quite some time here but yesterday I decided that it was high time I upgrade my desktop PC.

I went for the i7 4770 paired with a Gigabyte Sniper and Gigabyte AMD R9 280x as a GPU. Added a 3 Tb Seagate Baraccuda and 2x8 Gb 2400 Kingston HyperX Beast.

The question I have is about the PSU.

I currently have an old-ish Antec 430W a faithful device but my quick calculations have shown that my new configuration would need at least 480 W.

After reading quite a bit of reviews I decided to go for the Antec HCG 620 in the subject line. I simply cannot decide which one would be better and whether the extra ten pounds are justified?

My understanding is that the only difference is in the modular options and perhaps in the thermal control on the 620M.

I would like to hear your opinions.

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,
Jordan

good man :) modular is always better, easier to do some cable management :p
and its made by seasonic :)

My sentiments exactly :). I was reading a review with quite detailed testing and it was interesting to see that the Seasonic PSU, which is the base for the Antec HCG 620M was giving ripples of the order of 50 mV whilst the Antec rarely went above 10 mV and only when under 100 % load. This is why I went for the Antec. It looks strange but the figures do not lie (at least on paper). I was initially considering the HCG 750 M but this considering my system would have been a real overkill :).

I am now impatient to get the stuff and to start assembling :).
