*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Is the TW camera better than than Focal for videos? Reason I ask is that videos I shot at a festival compared to my friends took on IP5/5S were poor. Sound quality is terrible so I may switch back to a TW ROM if that is the case.

Yes you can flash ROMs on new gs4s but the short version is kiss goodbye to warranty completely if you custom flash a gs4 with Knox enabled. Its a lot more complicated when Knox is involved.

what do you think i should do?

Pay the £75 excess to natwest for the insurance or try my luck with EE who said it would be sent off to samsung to see if the screen was faulty. Which i think it must be/was as my phone is immaculate and always been cased with screen protector and never dropped.

Would natwest repair it or replace it do you think? id rather have a repair to be honest as i get my rooted and unlocked phone back then.

Suppose i could try and default back to the factory rom and settings but are you sure i dont need to see the screen once?> and will it wipe absolutely everything! as i have some shall we say dubious videos from whats app people have sent me over the months lol

EDIT or just get a brand new replacement, flash it and lose warranty and then use my private insurance if i have any trouble?

What's the situation regarding the battery swelling (too many pages to go back on)? Mine's started to get fatter

Im taking my phone to the nearest service center tomorrow for a battery change. But they are going to check my phone over for some reason, would they refuse to change the battery as Im using a custom rom??

the random reboots were on jamals google edition rom, its this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474

Very good, I've used both this and his older 4.3 version.

With things like gravitybox you don't actually need to be using CM11 now to get the best tweaks, not that CM11 is bad, quite the opposite but the google edition will probably be more stable and have better battery due to being an official ROM.

Which rom mate?

Again I'm having issues with the latest foxhound so looking to wipe

jamal's Google Edition, which matt100 has linked to above (or below in my quote).

GravityBox is amazing, but put it together with alucard's kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48944317&postcount=1) the ROM is fast and very smooth :)

TW camera will be better than anything else if you are using a custom rom like CM etc.

I would go super careful using different kernels for Jamals GE ROM, the kernel was the thing causing the random reboots.

Not read the thread you linked so it may be covered but just in case!

It has been covered... alucard applied the same fixes to his kernel. I have been using it for over 12 hours now with no RRs :)

very nice, if I go back to my S4 I might give that a shot.. just before xmas the size finally got the better of me after I managed to experience discomfort getting in and out of the car a few times with it in my pocket, fell out with it and started using my iPhone again for the first time in months.

That said I have a moto maker Moto X on the way :)

Nice save there with the Moto X because I was about to tell you to get out of this thread :p

I am thinging of installing a 'Lost My Phone' type of App.
I think I have narrowed it down to either Cerberus or Fine My Phone App.
Which one is better please ! ?

Thought as much. There was definitely an issue with the Focal camera as when trying to film with lots going on sound/lights etc the camera would FC then the phone would reboot. I was on the latest stable CM then. I have now moved to Jamals GE ROM but need the required loud surroundings to test the recording functions. Still, the sound problem is still looking toward a TW based ROM flash :(

id flash it either way i think, just in case either of them try the custom rom excuse.

yeah you dont need to see the screen, to get in to download mode just switch it off, hold down and power until it vibrates, give it a few seconds then press up. Then connect it to the pc (with odin running on the pc) and odin should pick it up. The instructions are all there in the link i posted previously, including links to stock roms.

As for will it wipe everything....not sure tbh! even a full wipe from recovery doesnt fully wipe everything. I dont actually know how to fully wipe the phone lol
