Is it still worth buying GTX TITAN now?

I had two 690 SLI, what I said was based on my own experience.

The 690 is the only dual GPU card I have not owned personally, but I fail to see how SLi is an issue at all any more. It's the same concept as running quad SLi. Although most people will run just the one card.

Wow £400 premium over a 290 for PhysX and unhampered GW support, that's a bargain.

Don't be daft and get a 780 if nvidia is your preference.

VRAM, I've seen well over 4GB usage at 7680x1440 in a couple of situations
now I know that usage =/= required, but for me if I was setting up on 7680x1440 today then I wouldn't be risking either 3 or 4GB I would want the most I could get

but if I didn't already have 3 titans I wouldn't be buying 3 titans now, I would make do with a lower resolution like triple 1080 and stick with 780's / 290's until the 20nm cards come out

and yes it's against forum rules to post the name and price of a competitor just how you have

not definitely no, until officially announced they could come with 1gb or 28gb or anywhere in between, until NVidia or AMD actually release the data themselves we won't know for sure

Depends. The next gen of cards (at 20nm) are likely to include (at the very highest end anyway) some amount of on die stacked memory in addition to a traditional VRAM arrangement. This will be a game changer for bandwidth, IDK what it'll mean for VRAM usage and limits, but I reckon a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

you would have to test at that time, Titan might not even be an option because games might be too taxing on the GPU for the 6gb of VRAM on the Titan to stretch it's legs

I don't have a crystal ball, I can only give my opinion based on the facts as I see them today - as of today I would not be buying Titan's and I certainly wouldn't suggest buying them in a years time either - but if you really absolutely have to have 7680 gaming in your life today and money is no object then the best option would be 4 Titans, if you don't mind turning down some settings then a 4way 290X setup could also be an option for a big saving on money, but I've not seen any 4way scaling reviews on 290's to say that with any confidence

Look, for gaming on a single monitor set up then absolute no need what so ever for a titan, however its not just GAMERS that bought the titan, the titan has another ace up its sleeve for the non gamer and its the sole reason that the prices is still where its at today

most games are not optimized for dual-core card like 690 or 790 in near future.
Playing with dual-core cards may cause problem.

I don't have any problems with my two GTX 690s and if anything there are less glitches and problems with image quality using quad sli than there are with a single GPU.

Two GTX 690s, intel 3960X and a RIVE seem to be the perfect combination, still going strong after more than a year and a half without problems.

For gaming using a single Titan, no as there were a lot of cheaper/faster options available.

The whole idea of the Titan is the 6gb vram and 3 and 4 way sli support so to get the best use out of them you buy 3 or 4 Titan's.
