460W PSU the cause of these reboots?

I've recently installed a new graphics card and my PC shuts down as soon as it has to do any kind of work (even when playing Candy Crush ffs!). All the system temps seem to be okay, so I'm going to assume it's my PSU which is the issue.

Could someone confirm if this is likely the case, given my specs below? If so, could you recommend a decent one (the quieter the better, preferably fanless!) Thanks!

Mobo: Asus P5N7A-VM
CPU: Intel e5200
PSU: Coolermaster 460W
Graphics: MSi HD 7850 1GB
RAM: 4 GB
Storage: 256 GB Samsung SSD / 1 TB Hitachi HDD

Ahh okay, cool. Thanks for confirming! I was told 400W was minimum, so I thought i'd be able to get away with it!

Not too surprising really, seeing as the PSU is the one that came with my case :P

EDIT: Actually, since i've installed the graphics card, i've also been getting distortion when playing music (especially the 'intense' parts) - could the crappy PSU also be causing that as well?

The psu is rubbish. Ignore the label. Just because it says 460w on the label does not mean it can deliver that much on the all important 12v rail. In the case of your psu it can only deliver a pathetic 312w on the 12v rails which is just awful for a modern psu. Always look at reviews or the PSU database to see what a psu can actually deliver before buying. It also tells you who makes what psu and for who as well as links to reviews.

Thanks for the input guys. Think I'm going to go with the "600W be quiet! Straight Power E9" PSU (which doesn't appear to be in that PSU database mentioned). I'm assuming that'll do the trick? :D

As for the CCC settings, I might try that (but only as a temporary measure until the new PSU arrives!)

oh yes it is! its fine for you.

Could be worse, my '700W' OCZ ModXstream Pro had 552W on the +12v and was only basic 80+ efficient, so thats 440W actual usable 12v power :p (The OCZ was also rubbish in other respects)

Hope the new PSU sorts it :)

Yes it is. It is a FSP built unit and has Quad 12v rails of 18A, 18A, 20A, 20A with a max of 576w. No reviews for the 600w version yet.

The efficiency rating is to do with how much power the psu draws from the wall to deliver the wattage to the pc components. If it had 552w on the 12v rail it will deliver that much but use more power from the wall than a more efficient unit.

Ah okay. Well I now care less about efficiency and need to re-inform some people. :p

Urghhhhhhh. So I've now installed my new 600W be quiet! PSU and everything has been okay... until this evening when it randomly rebooted while I was playing Killing Floor (not exactly a graphically intensive game).

Temps seem absolutely fine (was 40C when I got back into Windows). Event log shows nothing.... any ideas what I should do next? I've only ever installed one initial version of the AMD drivers (latest), so I'm assuming reinstalling those isn't really worth while?

Annoying :(
